Sick - Law x F!Reader - Mini Fic 3

You started to come around, you couldn't remember anything, and you felt nauseous. You could hear someone calling your name. "Good you're waking up". You tried to look around in confusion. It felt like a cloud of fog was plaguing the room as you came to.

"Did I fall asleep?". You looked over to the person next to you, they had a book in hand, not bothering to look back to you. It took you a moment before you were able to register it as Law. "No, you panicked, so we had to sedate you further" he shrugged. "I operated for two hours, it had started spreading to your brain, you're stable for now" he continued.

"Wait, my brain?" You questioned, unable to process the information he had just given you. "Like I said, you're stable now, you can even join the crew for dinner tonight if you're feeling up to it". He spoke to you like you weren't a dying patient, being kept alive only by him.

You lazily looked up to the ceiling, laying back in your bed. "Who was it in the operating room that tried to comfort me?" You shyly asked, hoping to perhaps seek him out for a thank you. You weren't sure you'd recognise his face though.

"That would be Penguin, you want to thank him right?" Law determined, finally shutting his book at looking at you. You nodded. "Penguin, cute name" you mused. Law stood from his seat. "Now that you're awake and clearly fine, I will see to you again later" he informed walking to the door. "Dinner will be in an hour, in the meantime, there's a transponder snail that'll connect you to the Strawhats on your left" he finished, before walking out of view, allowing the door to close behind him.

You immediately darted for the snail. You smiled to yourself as you dialled them up waiting for the snail to connect through. "Cuuuh-lick". "Hello" you beamed down the phone, excitement running through your bones like electricity, finally getting a little piece of home. "Y/n?".

You'd recognise the voice anywhere. "Nami" you called back. "You sound well". You felt like you could feel her smiling through the phone, mirroring the look you had on your face. The smile painted on yours only grew as you heard various crew members fighting to get a chance to talk to you in the background.

"Alright alright" you heard Nami sigh, then some rustling until a new voice came down the phone. "Y/n we miss you, Sanji made really good dinner tonight". You laughed at your captains words, and cries of pain after you heard, presumably Nami, smack and insult him. "I don't want to lie to her". "You shouldn't have said it in the first place Luffy".

Your eyes welled up as you listened to the bickering of your crew. "Is that y/n-swaaan" you heard Sanji swoon. You could almost imagine the hearts in his eyes like he was in the room with you. "Sanji" you shouted down the phone. "How are you doing, I hope that doctor is taking care of you" he grumbled. "He is, I'm doing well, treatments already started" you explained.

"I'm going soon for dinner, though I do wish it was your cooking" you chatted happily. "Y/n- swaaan, do you really mean that". "No you don't, dinner sucked" you heard Zoro shout from somewhere. Then what sounded like a fight broke out.

"Stop fighting guys" Nami scolded, turning her attention back to the phone. "We'll probably have to go now, sorry you didn't get to talk to everyone" she apologised. "Don't worry, I'll call again soon" you reassured. You had hoped to hear from Chopper, you were scared he'd still be beating himself up.

They hung the phone up, you let out the shaky breath you were holding, followed by some tears. You missed them so much, it had only been a day, but finally you were alone, and able to grieve. You felt happy to hear their voices and feel their love, but also an immense amount of pain being away from them.

Law said an hour, and it had nearly been that. You could smell the food wafting through the sub. You felt less nauseous now, and more hungry, you hadn't eaten properly in a while, so you were overdue a good meal.
