Prompt 10: "I think I'm in love with you and I'm terrified"

Of course you fell for her. These days you were no better than Sanji. Your eyes always followed her. She knew, obviously she knew. As perceptive as she is, she would catch your gaze, and you'd look away with a small blush. You had always just thought you looked up to her, she was just mature, and a good person to idolise somewhat.

It became clear after a while that wasn't the case. You found yourself often daydreaming about her, her beautiful eyes, soft hair, plump lips, her curves. Everything about her was perfect. Even her fighting style, it was delicate and feminine at times, and then on the flip of a dime she could break someone's neck in seconds in a somewhat calm rage.

You noticed her hobbies, reading, tending the garden, archaeology of course. You so wanted to spend time with her that you took them up yourself. You had not even an ounce of a green thumb within you, so Brook gave you some pointers on how to not kill flowers, but then reading was hard. You couldn't focus with how loud everyone else was.

Yet you kept at it, finding your knack for it. You even became a tea drinker, after adding lots of sugar to what you thought was a bland drink. Lastly you had done some studying on the basics of archaeology, now realising it was different from palaeontology. You felt ready.

You woke up early from the girls dorm, maybe ten minutes after Robin. You got dressed and followed her out onto deck. You found her tending to the garden just like you knew she would be. You gingerly knelt beside her. "Can I help?" You asked, you wanted to smile, but you felt nervous.

"Sure" she answered with an accompanied smile, one that reached her eyes, as she handed you a watering can. You thanked her, and began carefully watering the plants she hadn't. "Um.. so I started reading this new book" you started, hoping to pique her interest.

"Is that so?" She looked at you like she was beckoning you to continue, so you did. "Yeah.. it's a murder mystery. This guys wife frames him for her murder, when she's actually alive and it's so good, she's kind of crazy but.." you trailed off, wondering if she was really interested. Was it weird to gush about murder?

"Well sounds interesting. I'll have to read it when you're finished" she responded, as cool as a cucumber. You nodded. The one thing with Robin was her innate ability to make you feel like a child in her presence, you wanted her to look at you like you did her, yet part of you felt like she viewed you like some silly little kid.

"Yeah I really recommend it" you nodded, trying to sound a little more serious. She watched you a little longer. "You're great with the flowers" she complimented. You had to stop the physical reaction your body wanted to exhibit.

Instead you politely grinned. "Thank you" you answered a little more shyly. You heard her chuckle at you. "So.." she began. "What is it you like to do for fun?" she asked. She gave you a knowing look.

You realised she had figured out gardening, reading and tea drinking wasn't really your vibe. You sighed. All that hard work..

"Honestly.. I like.." you trailed off for a second, knowing your own hobbies were a little childish. "Finding shapes in the clouds, collecting coins and playing games" you mumbled. Avoiding eye contact.

She hummed and looked up at the sky. "Well I see a skull, it's broken in half.. the person must've suffered an unimaginable death".

You looked at her for a moment. You weren't stunned by her dark remark, but rather, she was taking part in your hobby this time. You broke out into a big grin looking up at the sky. "Must've been painful, I'm pretty sure" you agreed. You pointed to another.

"Hey I think that's the rest of the body. Though the legs missing". The sound of her laugh was music to your ears. You both sat pointing out clouds for a while before you turned to her. She looked so pretty looking up at the sky, it made your heart beat out of your chest, you wondered if she could hear it.

She looked down from the sky and then turned to look at you. You must've looked like a dear caught in the headlights. "Why do you look so scared?" She asked, in a lighthearted manner, but your lips moved before your brain processed it.

"Because I think I'm in love with you, and I'm terrified". You immediately clasped your hand over your mouth, and Robin even looked taken aback for a second.

"I had my suspicions" she admitted. You deflated a little. That was not what you wanted to hear. "But why are you terrified if you don't mind me asking?". You raised an eyebrow, maybe you were being too immature by fearing something so natural like love.

"Well.. I'm terrified because, you must not swing the same way.. o-or if you do, perhaps I'm too childish for you" you kept your tone soft as you spoke, the disappointment couldn't be kept out.

Robin however didn't seem phased by your confession. "Well, I've never really put a label on myself, I just enjoy people. I find you particularly interesting". You couldn't tell if she was letting you down or confirming she felt similarly.

"Interesting?" You questioned. She nodded, before elaborating. "I think you're wonderful, you shouldn't be terrified. Love comes so naturally to you, to be loved by you is an honour" she answered, once again things felt ambiguous. You needed her to spell out whatever she was saying.

"Robin.. are you letting me down?" You questioned, hoping she would be a bit more blatant this time. She smiled and shook her head. "No. I wouldn't let someone as sweet and kind as you go. You say you love me and you're terrified?".

You nodded confirming her words to be true. You loved her and you were terrified when you thought she would never reciprocate, but if she felt the same.. if she wouldn't let you slip through her fingers then.

"I'm not terrified" Robin continued, speaking exactly what was on your mind.
