A/N: Hi so not to spoil this story but it is all gn pronouns, however towards the end there's mentions of pregnancy, again all kept gn, but yes just will have that marked when that comes up, so you can choose to skip it. It'll still make sense.
Also quick question, do you guys like that I'm doing bigger uploads now usually around 5K words, or is that too intimidating? Should I be shortening my stories again to around 400-1.5K words?? Pls let me know!<3
It had been a couple of months since Katakuri had shown you his face, and though the moment had been a turning point in your marriage, the road ahead was still paved with small, cautious steps. Katakuri wasn't one to open up quickly, but the walls he'd built around himself were no longer insurmountable.
This evening, you found yourself curled up in the sitting room with a book in hand. The glow of the fireplace painted the room in warm, flickering light, and the soft crackle of the flames filled the comfortable silence. Katakuri sat across from you, a stack of neatly folded papers beside him as he scribbled something in a ledger.
"Is that for the family?" you asked, breaking the quiet. He glanced up, his sharp eyes meeting yours for a brief moment. "Yes" he answered simply. "Logistics for shipments".
You nodded, watching him for a moment. Despite his immense strength and commanding presence, there was something endearing about the way he meticulously organised everything. "You're always working".
"I have responsibilities" he said, though his tone wasn't dismissive. "But I make time for you". The admission warmed your chest, and you smiled softly. "I've noticed. Thank you for that". He didn't reply, but his lips twitched slightly, the ghost of a smile hidden beneath his scarf.
Later that night, you were preparing for bed in your room. The quiet nights in Whole Cake Château had become familiar to you, comfortable, even. Your relationship with Katakuri had softened over time, growing into something warmer, something real. Still, there was one boundary neither of you had crossed, your separate rooms.
Every evening, you would retire to your quarters, and he would retreat to his own, the unspoken distance between you lingering like a shadow. Tonight, however, you couldn't shake the feeling that it was time to change that.
You stood outside the door to his room, your heart pounding as you raised a hand to knock. The idea of invading his personal space felt like a risk, but you were determined. If your marriage was going to feel real, you had to take this step.
A deep voice called out from the other side. "Come in". Pushing the door open, you stepped into his quarters. The room, as always, was meticulously neat, every surface spotless and orderly. Katakuri sat in a large chair near the window, a book resting in his lap. He looked up as you entered, his sharp gaze softening slightly when he saw you.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, setting the book aside. You shook your head, closing the door behind you. "No, nothing's wrong. I just... wanted to talk". He tilted his head, his eyes unreadable. "About what?". You hesitated, shifting your weight from one foot to the other. "About us. About... sharing a room". His eyes widened slightly, the faintest flicker of surprise breaking through his stoic demeanour. "Sharing a room?"
