As the last echoes of battle faded over the island of Wano, the scent of sakura blossoms began to reclaim the air, pushing away the harsher odours of smoke and blood. While the crews celebrated the hard won victory, two notable figures, Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid, stood with their respective crews, their attention covertly but unmistakably focused on one particular member of the Straw Hat Pirates, you.
Kid leaned against a wooden post, his gaze fixed as he watched you laugh with some members of your crew. His eyes narrowed thoughtfully, the sight of your easy camaraderie mingled with undeniable prowess in battle intriguing him more than he cared to admit.
Meanwhile, Law stood at a distance, his arms folded and his expression unreadable beneath the shadow of his hat. He had travelled with the Straw Hats before and knew of your strategic mind and quiet strength. Yet, seeing you in full element during the battles in Wano had deepened his respect, stirring a curiosity that hadn't been there before.
Both captains were pulled from their observations by the approach of Luffy, who bounded over with his typical lack of concern for subtlety or timing. Kid straightened up, crossing his arms, while Law's demeanour shifted subtly to one of mild amusement mixed with inquiry.
"Hey, Straw hat" Kid started, his tone voice gruff but with an underlying note of interest. "Haven't seen her around much before. She always been with you?"
Law's interest was piqued by the conversation, his sharp eyes watching Luffy's reaction closely. "Yes, she was with them at Sabaody" Law added smoothly. "She has a lot of strength and tact, in fact it seems it's grown considerably".
"Hm? Oh, Y/N?" Luffy grinned, puffing his chest out with pride. "Yeah! She's awesome, isn't she? She's been with us for a while now. Always coming up with stuff and fighting. She's pretty great".
Kid scoffed lightly, his interest barely concealed. "Must be quite the asset to have someone like her on board, huh?"
Law simply nodded, his gaze drifting back to where you were now drinking with some crew members. "Indeed" he agreed quietly, the analytical part of his mind already considering the various ways your skills could complement his own crew's strategies.
As Luffy ran off to join another game, Kid and Law shared a look, an unspoken acknowledgement passing between them. Though rivals, they both recognised talent, and your presence had clearly made an impression.
The evening wore on with laughter and shared stories, the crews mingling, but always with Kid and Law keeping a watchful eye on you. Their interest had been piqued, and though neither would admit it, the thought of having someone like you on their side was an appealing, if distant, fantasy.
The celebrations in Wano continued into the night, the air alive with music and laughter. Lanterns swayed gently in the evening breeze, casting a warm glow over the assembled pirates. It was a rare moment of peace and camaraderie among former foes and newfound friends. Amidst this festive backdrop, both Kid and Law had the same goal, to pull you aside and speak with you privately about your future.
