A/N: Um hi, yeah I hope this is alright, I tried to do some bickering and keep humorous moments whilst also addressing the serious parts of how everyone feels! Also Dadan is a little ooc, with how she'd normally interact with other people, and that's purely because I didn't know how to integrate in her feelings otherwise!
The morning sun barely crested over the treetops of Mt. Colubo, casting long, lazy shadows across the makeshift yard outside Dadan's house. It was going to be a scorching day, the kind where even the cicadas seemed too hot to buzz. You stood in front of the small, cracked mirror propped against the outer wall of the wooden shack, scrutinising your reflection with a determined squint.
"Are you sure about this?" you muttered to yourself, fingers hesitating over the pile of clothes you had stolen, borrowed, really, from Ace's drawer. They were a bit big, but you figured they would do the job. With a deep breath, you shed your usual light dress and pulled on Ace's baggy shorts and a similarly oversized shirt. The transformation was notable, the clothes hanging off your small frame in a way that made you feel both excited and a bit silly.
You tied a red bandana around your head, and turned to face your reflection again. "Not bad" you decided, though the girl in the mirror looked nothing like the one who picked flowers and helped Dadan pick up after the boys.
Just as you were adjusting the bandana, Luffy wandered out of the house, his eyes half closed, and his straw hat perched precariously on his head. He stopped mid yawn when he saw you, his eyes widening comically.
"Who are you?" he asked, tilting his head. It took him a moment, but recognition finally dawned. "Oh Y/N! You're... trying to be Ace?". "Not trying. I am going to be like Ace, like all of you" you corrected him with more confidence than you felt.
Luffy shrugged, a slow grin spreading across his face. "Cool! Can you still make those meat pies, though?". "Of course, I can" you laughed, ruffling his hair, which he only allowed because he was still half asleep.
Your next encounter was with Sabo, who was far more observant than Luffy. He raised an eyebrow as he leaned against the wooden railing. "Going for a new look?" he inquired, some confusion on his face.
