POV: 3rd Person
There's a tint that Charles is very familiar with as he gets angry. Usually, for people, and probably ghosts, even as they get angry, they don't just see red right away unless it was major. But for Charles, it was different, he always seemed to see red, and he can't seem to stop it.
He tries to take deep breaths, he tries to keep his hands to himself, but he can't. Like when the Night Nurse taunted him with his own memories to get him to leave Edwin, of all people, to go to the afterlife. He couldn't help but see red and bring destruction to his path. He could barely remember how hard he had smacked her head, repeatedly until she was cornered and fell into the monster's mouth. He could barely remember how everything seemed to blur out into a nasty red color.
What Charles could remember, was how Edwin tried to warn him and stop him. How the male's silent protests were drowned out by his anger. When it comes to Edwin, no matter how angry he was, he would calm, or he would simply remember it forever. Charles could remember how Edwin had told him as he fixed his collar when they were by themselves that he was the best person he'd known.
Charles had remembered how his figurative heart had beat and warmed under the male's touch.
Charles has been told by those living and could see him that he radiated a dead, dull, coldness. Like standing next to a freezer. But it was natural, since he had died of hypothermia.
Charles remembered back then, when he had died, that Edwin had read to him while he died, giving up to the cold that took over his body, so that he would be comforted. So that his death would go easily, unlike what Edwin had been read to when he died. The man could never be more thankful, and he would never wish for anyone else but Edwin Payne to have been there when he died.
Right now, as Edwin's back by his side, entering the office, all Charles could see was red. Pure red in his vision as he stared Edwin's disheveled stance, clearly flustered as he breathed heavily, even as he didn't need to. He took quick, long strides, towards the male, pushing him right against the wall before Edwin could even get to react.
"Where have you been?" Charles grabbed at his wrists, pinning them right against the door as they were now against it and wasn't moving through as Charles kept them there. The taller ghost doesn't like it when the Payne seemed to go off elsewhere without him, he doesn't like how he wasn't there for Edwin in case he would need his help. He definitely doesn't like the thought of his boyfriend running off somewhere without him.
Charles was not one for sharing Edwin, no he was not. That was made clear, and yet, here Edwin was, running around without giving him a notice. "Charles?" Edwin's hands are free from his tight grip, hands put on his shoulders to sooth him, the taller ghosts' hands made their way down the Edwardian's waist and hips, biting at his neck but not enough to mark it.
"I've only been gone a moment." That made Charles pause and look back up, eyes deadly as he glared at his boyfriend, grabbing at his coat, dragging him and practically throwing him against the desk in their office, Edwin winced at being shoved against the object, one of his legs going up as he tried to stable himself against the old wood.
Charles couldn't help it but somewhat hurt Edwin as the nasty red painted at his vision, roughly pushing Edwin down and against the hard wood, shoving a knee between his legs and spreading them, his hands wrapped around the skinnier wrists, grip tight and bruising.
"A moment? You've been gone for too long." As Edwin struggled to get free, Charles earrings shook with the might of keeping the latter down, leaning down and kissing at his neck, mouth opening wide and biting at the flesh, earning a cry from the male. "Who were you wh*ring yourself to?"
"Charles!-" Edwin tries again as his wrists were let go. Charles might be set with rage, but he wasn't like his father. Charles' shoving himself inside the other detective as soon as he got a sliver exposed between them, cutting the male off. "I was not with anyone!" He chokes up, tears at his eyes, hurt in his voice, but still, he lets the taller ghost take him, squeezing his walls around Charles, knuckles going whiter as he gripped at the desk.
The wood is shaking as Charles moves, Edwin's afraid it might turn over at the violent thrusts. Sobs and moans leaves the male's lips as the man above him doesn't leave him room to even move. Charles' kissing him, pouring all his feelings and all his anger into his thrusts and kisses, devouring the other ghost.
Edwin lets him do whatever he wants, hands moving away from the desk's edges, arms wrapping around Charles' shoulders to keep him close, hugging him as he sobbed into his broader shoulders. "Mnh.. C-Charles.." He whines. After all, he knows Charles was only protective over him. He knows Charles is scared that he might've gone, dragged back into Hell and Charles wouldn't know.
"I'm here, I'm here." He manages to choke out into Charles' ear, he comes with a silent cry, and so does Charles. The man was so deep inside of him that even as Charles removed himself, it doesn't drip out onto the carpeted floor. "I'm not going anywhere, Charles." He reassures, his chest heaves even as he doesn't need to breathe. Edwin's voice is shaking as he sits up on the desk with the said man's help.
"I'm sorry. I don't know why-" Edwin's warm hand is on his mouth, stopping him from speaking any further. Deep, pretty, blue eyes staring back at his dark brown ones. Edwin's free arm on his shoulder, perched there as he cleared his voice. A small smug smile on his face that was almost unnoticeable, but Charles was Charles, and Charles is a detective, and he knows Edwin best, so he sees it.
"You don't need to apologize, I'll never leave. Not again." Edwin reassures, forehead against his. "Besides. I liked it." Edwin's showing him a bigger smile, and he's giggling at his own boldness. It makes Charles feel better about it, and he swallows, bringing Edwin into a softer kiss, they part moments later.
"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" Charles' smirking before pushing Edwin back down against the desk, except this time a lot gentler. Softer.
"Perhaps." Edwin's fingers are playing at the small strands of hair at the back of his neck, arms wrapping around it. Before Charles could kiss him again, however, the shorter merely places a finger on his lips, pushing him back. "I believe we have more work, Charles."
At this, Charles lets out a half-groan, half-whine, but alas, pulling Edwin back up and pulling up his trousers for him, fixing at his tie while Edwin fixes the collar of his coat and shirt.
"You know I will always be here, yes?" When Charles stays silent, Edwin pouts just ever so slightly, and it makes him want to evaporate, then, with a raise of an eyebrow, Charles is forced to speak.
"I just.."
"I'm not going anywhere." Edwin's kissing his nose, and all his worries are wiped. Sometimes, Charles thinks Edwin is somewhat of an enchanter, but the Night Nurse - who was regrettably part of their agency - tells him he's just drunk in love.
"Right."
"Right."
