Another fic because I just finished XO Kitty 2, thank GOD Minho and Kitty didn't get together like everyone was saying because I will actually tweak out and die.

I'll never be on the Minty hill

POV: 3rd Person

  Minho's been... distant.

For some reason, he's just been running off to go talk to Kitty. Of course, they've had their fight last semester over Daeheon's stupid insecurity issues. He doesn't know what the male is doing, running away like that, but.. lately, there's a new girl, too. Stella.

She's nice, she's really nice. And she's pretty, too. Beautiful, even. In the back of his mind, a little voice in Daeheon's head that keeps telling him: "Well.. she would fit in his arms nicely. She's a perfect size to be in Minho's arms. Not your... sharp masculine angles." Dae's face is round, but it's not pretty like Minho's past interest. His eyes are small, like a deer caught in headlights, not accentuated by anything. They're not cat-like or sharp but still with a sweet warmth.

His body is blocky and stubby, there aren't any curves to him. His waist isn't small, and he doesn't fit right in Minho's arms because they're both men. Even when the taller is against his back and hugging him close, it feels a little awkward. Dae's just.. he's nothing like Minho's types. Not like the men he sometimes lingers on, the ones with muscle and slender and a little over the top. Not like the women he's confided in Daeheon and slept with before they realized they liked each other, the ones who are small and petite with a cute smile.

A little reassurance came, a much, much, smaller voice than the last. "But.. you know he was just with those people to try and sway himself away because he thought you didn't like him, right?" It's so small that the other taunting voice easily overpowers it. "Who are you kidding? He was obviously with them because he liked them. Look at that crooked smile and tilted shoulders. Eugh, creepy."

Dae stared at the mirror, pulling his sweater on, a sweater that he bought recently to hide his embarrassing frame. Taking a deep breath, he makes his way to the rest of the dorm room, where Q was currently making dinner for them. "You okay?" His eyes are worried, if only Q wasn't so emotionally aware.. "You look like death."

"It's nothing. I'm just.." He waves his hands around the room as if it would explain how he feels, he only gets a blank look in response, but at least it's somewhat sympathetic. "Minho's been.. out with Kitty a lot, right?"

Q gives him a deadpanned look, and he knows it's stupid. "You know he doesn't feel anything for her, right? He's head over heels in love with you and would probably rather have a horrible breakout on his forehead than let you go." Dae knows this exaggerated because in no type of universe would Minho let that happen to his face.

So, he refutes. "Stella's.. nice, too." And Stella is very pretty. She knows how to look good and knows how to dress well. Of course, she'll never be able to dress like Eunice or Yuri, but she's still very pretty. Unlike Dae's self who, if his friends were not truly his friends, would be wearing the same set of outfits every day when out of the uniforms.

"Stella? Nah. I sense sum in that girl." And Dae does, too. But he doesn't want to say anything because it seems like his boyfriend has taken a liking to the girl that has started to cling around them no matter what.

He just lets out a long sigh, and decides to go into his shared room with Minho.

------------------------------------------

Daeheon never meant for this to happen.

With his insecurities, he had withdrawn from Minho entirely. Even when the male whines relentlessly around the entire campus that his face is breaking out because he's been stressed, Dae pretends that it's not his fault. He pretends that he doesn't know that it's him who's making Minho feel so horrible, while Stella fawns over him and tries to tell him that maybe.. 'whoever' he was dating isn't worth it.

Minho rightfully rejects her because he's loyal as anything to those he values - and he sure values his old friends a lot more than this chick - and will not be leaving Dae anytime soon. The man knows that his lover is going through something, and will let him figure it out on his own because he hadn't reached out. People only reach out when they're ready, and Dae is far from that.

But Minho isn't talking to him either.

Minho has been running off and back to the girls who are doing other things instead, huddling with them and pushing their group and himself away from Dae whenever he gets close because they're talking about something private. Dae respects privacy, but it's bugging him a lot, too.

"They're obviously planning something for you!" A kind little pep-talk, but it's squashed down into dust moments later by a louder taunt, "Or maybe, he's planning on how he could break up with you."

He digs his nails into the palm of his hands until it hurts so much it becomes numb. Dae had just hoped it wasn't true, that the nagging voice in the back of his head wasn't right. Because he knows he's dependent on Minho, but not knowing if it was the same had hurt just as equally.

---------------------------------------------

It's only a few months later that Dae's exhausted dad had got himself into a car accident. It wasn't the old man's fault but another person's, but it does seem very plausible that it was the both of them because his father has been very tired as if late. With his father out of commission, he has to get a part-time job.

Even just a little bit, he has to help with his own tuition and get his little sister, Bora, something nice for her upcoming birthday. Even when his dad is completely against it, Dae had pushed himself to find a job anyway. The bills weren't going to pay itself, and his sister has been sent off to their aunt.

In the midst of finding a job, Minho started to talk to him again. Even as they could barely hear each other over the screeching microphone of the Karaoke Bar with Kitty's horrible voice, he can just tell what Minho wants to say. "I'm sorry for your dad, Hyung. I know we haven't talked for a while and even though I don't know what you're going through, please, just let me help you."

"I can't just let you pay this bill, Minho-ah. It's too expensive." He tries.

"But I'm rich, I can afford this for you, my dad has connections to that hospital from the time he hurt his throat. They can help you, Hyung. Please, just let me do this for you if you can't tell me what's wrong."

It's almost suffocating when he thinks about his insecurities. But no one's listening but him. No one's listening except for the one that matters, for the one that needs to hear this because they've been separated for too long that it hurts. "I just.. I know you mean good, and you aren't.. looking at someone else, but," he takes in a deep breath, and stops Minho when he's about to start. "I've just been.. worried. Worried that you'll fall in love with someone else." Dae fiddles, "I'm not like them, I'm not.. pretty, I'm not rich. I'm nothing like the girlfriends you've had before, and I'm certainly not as cool as the guys you've told me about all those years ago."

He puffs up his mouth with air and tries to keep himself quiet. Dae looks down at his lap, picking at the fabric of his pants that suddenly don't look good on him. He's hyper aware of how his hair feels on his head, how the clothing does nothing to show his horrible body-line.

But Minho had only pulled his chin up. When their eyes meet, it's electrifying. Warmth spreading all around his body and up his neck, flushing his pale cheeks in a pretty pink that makes Minho want to coo. They don't kiss, because PDA is something neither of them enjoy, but the look itself is reassuring. "Who could I ever want but you?" He paused, and a cheeky smile came, ready to fluster the older male even as he wasn't usually so vocal about his love (Truth be told, neither of them were), "you're the prettiest one out there."

And as expected, a flush came onto Daeheon's face, who pushed at his shoulder and quickly got up to sing the next queued song with his new good friend, Eunice.

Turns out, all he needed to do was open up.
