POV: 3rd Person

Throughout the entirety of Nong High, there are two famous people - of which, are of totally different tastes. One is a quiet school president, and the other one is the bright captain of the basketball team. Huang Xin - or, well, Xing is what people know him by, because Xing is much more fitting for the famous president who's rather like an unreachable star than a golden heart - and Qiu Dingjie, respectively.

They each have their own friends, Xing somehow tangled up in a cat-and-mouse bicker with basketball player Jiang Heng, and Dingjie found himself with the meek nerd, Li Peien. Everyone knows the friend circles may cross, especially because Peien is the Vice President, and Heng is within the team everyone loves.

The four are basically only a hair from actually becoming friends.

Which - the hair is actually brushed upon, when Qiu is scolded by his coach about his grades. "Qiu Dingjie! I know you're passionate about basketball - but.. your grades are collapsing. If you don't get them up by the end of the semester, which, may I add, is next month!.. I won't be allowed to have you on the team."

The boy's head is hung low, mumbling the usual "yes, I get it." and "I will, don't worry." Except-he actually doesn't understand any of his work. He's been too into his athletic life to even think about his academic one! It's too late, and when he's looking at all his homework, he can barely understand a single word it's asking him to do.

His jaw drops, and as he ran across the halls, clutching his papers and almost tripping over himself and dropping them - he's at Peien's class. "Peien!.." He slams his hands down on the desk, so hard the thing rattles, and the older classmate is looking up at him with wide eyes like he was going insane. "I need help!"

The class president, whose eyes had trailed behind Dingjie - who had run down the halls as if it didn't break a rule - had stamped on the back of the athlete's neck. "What is it?" Seeing the urgent situation, Peien had immediately been drawn, leaning closer with big eyes, worrying as though a mother would to her child.

"I- they're going to kick me off the team if I fail this semester - Peien-" He draws out the older classmate's name, taking his hands and holding it pleadingly, "Please help me! I promise I'll never ask for anything again. I'll do anything!"

Gasping with his big eyes, no one can resist a sweetheart like Qiu. His heart-lips quivered as he tried to give the most pleading look he could give - and even though the Vice President had wished to help..

"Puka.." His voice is warm, but obviously on a negative note, "I can't, I want to, but I really can't. My job outside of school is demanding, and I won't have time to help you. I'll.. I can talk to someone who can."

"Thank you so much- I'll treat you when we go out." He holds the Vice President so close, it's almost bone-crushing. Xin, who had watched silently, had felt a little pinch in his chest despite having protectively crossed his arms over his uniform.

  "Classmate Huang!.."

Peien had caught up to him, backpack bouncing behind with stacks of books cluttering against each other within them. He breathes heavily when he does, and Xin looks down at the shorter boy, "do you need anything, Classmate Li?"

"Ah.. d-do you have free time?"

"What for?" Truth be told, Xing already knew what he wanted to ask. He had just been patiently waiting for his chance.
