POV: 3rd Person
The young boy is sitting by Gao Tu's bed, his classmate, who he had been feeling rather protective over. He bit his nails nervously, unsure of how to treat someone with a fever. Tu had refused harshly towards going to the hospital as he didn't want to "waste" money on doing an examination.
So Wenlang, who was forced to follow the Beta's wishes, had sat by his side in the tiny apartment, the door to the place is barely even on, hinges rusting and wood scratchy on both sides. The paint peeling and the smell is old. Musty despite being cleaned well by the high school boy who was now laying on the tiny twin-sized bed.
He dipped the towel in cold water, and laid it carefully on Tu's forehead.
As he was waiting, he was getting more anxious. The heat was rising, he can feel it with each touch to the boy's forehead. "Gao Tu, we should really go to the hospital.." He tries again, tugging at the limp wrist. The scent on the back of Wenlang's neck had been emitting an uncomfortable sour scent, unable to reign it. His emotions had always held him harshly by the throat.
Tu, who had been silently suffering through it - yet he could only fall harder from the influx of worry - spoke. His voice croaking, refusing once more. ".. I'm not going."
The angry younger teen was never able to sway the Beta's wishes. If he was able to, he would, but the older boy was so stubborn, even mountains would have to call him their master. Wenlang had moved to change the towel to another one, dipping the now warm towel back into the cold water.
For hours, he had repeated this. And for the hours, he had forced soothing pheromones out of him. It was supposed to comfort the Beta who couldn't even be affected by it, and each time he thought about it, the Alpha had only wanted to drown in his own despair. He had felt so bad for the Beta, that he was starting to feel ill, too.
Gao Tu, who, hours later, had found Wenlang snoring silently with his head against the hard mattress, fell further in love with the boy. At first, Wenlang was an angel, and once the Omega found out more, the image of Wenlang had fallen. Yet now, he was back to being the angel Tu had admired from afar. Back to the radiant Shen Wenlang with a heart so golden it had shown through his skin.
The soothing smell of Iris engulfed him in a warmth that Gao Tu had never had the chance to feel in his life of hardship.
Running his hand gently on the Alpha's head, the boy had unconsciously purred.
Even if Wenlang had riddled him with insults that he never means, Tu would never hold it against him, because here he was. Releasing soothing pheromones even in his sleep, even when he was exhausted from treating to Gao Tu, even when he knows a "Beta" like him would not be affected by it. Would not feel it.
But because Tu had lied to the softest heart that trusted him with all of its soft beats, he could smell it. Smell the way Wenlang cares.
Something that no one else had the pleasure of feeling.
Wenlang, who had dreamed of a soft summer wind brushing through his hair, had laid in a field of beautiful purple Sage.
