Amidst the shadows and the secrets

Night Twenty-Seven

Back in the kitchen, Chisana took the pudding out of the fridge. Thank you, Reiji for the ingredients. With a smile, she decorated the pudding and plate with raspberries. Do I call him or should I knock on his door? Mhmm, I do think he only needs a spoon but a small one or bigger? I'm not sure. 

"I'm smelling something great... raspberry pudding!" Kanato's eyes widened and ran up to the island. "It is for me, right?" 

She nodded. "I was only thinking of bringing it to you yes or no and if you would want a small or big spoon?" 

"Small spoon," said Kanato. He disappeared for a moment and came back with empty hands. "I'm taking this to my room." 

"I understand." She handed him a small spoon. "Enjoy it, Kanato. I made one smaller for myself just to see what made you addicted to raspberries." 

He laughed. "As long as the big one is mine." 

"Teddy is waiting for you." She showed her smaller pudding. 

"Acceptable, but no more, Chisana." He saw her shake her head. 

"This is the only time I try a little bit. Wait a moment." She stopped him and tried a bite. "Mhmm, it's not as sweet as I would want it. Strawberry is still my favorite. Here, take this too. It's not for me." She chuckled and put the small spoon in his mouth. "Now you have one hand free for this one." 

He winked back and left in a second. 

It's a good thing, I made myself strawberry pudding. She digged in and enjoyed it. After cleaning it, she felt Subaru's knife in her back being taken away. What? She turned around and saw Yui standing with the knife pointing at her.  

"What are you doing with Subaru's knife? Did you steal it?" Yui would always recognize the knife because he once gave it to her. 

Chisana shook her head. "He gave it to me..." Why should I explain myself to her? 

"Talk fast, Chisana-chan. Did you went into his room to steal this knife?" Yui couldn't stand it any longer and wanted her gone. If she would stab the girl, it would be over. She would have the men all to herself again. 

Chisana swallowed and understood that the girl was becoming dangerous. Wanting to back away, she felt the kitchen counter pressing in her back. Her eyes flashing from the knife to Yui and back. "Reiji!" Please, be fast. She was no match for a knife. But this is ridiculous. I'm afraid of someone pointing a knife at me than a vampire. 

Subaru heard her scream and teleported inside the kitchen. "What's going on?" 

Reiji came in next and felt something sharp. Without thinking, he grabbed the knife from the blonde by the blade. It burned him slightly but gave it back to Chisana, agreeing with Subaru about her defending herself if needed. 

Recoiling, Yui looked from one to the other. "No... it's not what you think. I... I saw the knife and thought she stabbed herself..." 

"Pretty impressive to stab herself with a knife when the blade is in its sheath." Subaru showed no compassion and wrapped his hand around her neck. 

Chisana took the knife with trembling hands but it fell out of her hand. "Thank you." She mumbled and sought protection in his arms. 

"Are you okay?" Reiji kept her in his arms, when he sensed the others. 

Ayato chuckled to himself, shaking his head. "Can you believe this? She's making a complete fool of herself," he said to Kanato, who simply raised an eyebrow in response.
