Amidst the shadows and the secrets

Night Twenty-Eight

"Can you help me, too?" Some girl recognized the problem.

Quickly, Chisana guided the girl through it. "I want to go and get started on my homework." She followed Reiji. "Happy?"

"Thrilled." He pushed his glasses back up but did understand she fixed it fast. He walked her back to her homeroom and knew Laito is close. "I'll see you later."

Coming out of the bathroom, Chisana turned pale seeing a familiar face. 

"So it is you, Chisana." The girl pushed herself off of the wall. "Imagine my surprise to see you here alive and well. My mother kicked you out of the house with some random address. I was expecting to hear on the news that they found a body of a girl. Your body. You don't even look homeless or poor." 

"Seiko," was all she could say when she found Laito in the dooropening of their homeroom. 

Laito wanted to know the girl and hoped to bite her. Instead, he gestured with his index finger for Chisana to come. "Chisa-chan." One look was enough to know Seiko was trouble.

Seiko turned to see who called the girl and held her breath. "Who are you, sexy?" 

"Not interested." Laito pulled Chisana with him. "Except her blood," but he whispered only for Chisana to hear. 

"Oh, why not? Why be with someone who is so plain and ordinary when you can be with me." Seiko followed the two. 

Laito promised himself to kill the girl and giving it to Kanato as a new doll. "I'm not allowed to date anyone at school. Plus, it's against school policy to date. You should focus on your homework because you have thirty days left from this semester." 

"That's why I came this week. I'll catch up easily." Seiko dropped a few books on Chisana's desk. "Do my homework too while your at it." She winked at the man and bent down to the girl. "Or I'll expose your secret." 

"Really, and what secret would that be?" Laito ignored the fact he wasn't supposed to hear it and playfully lifted both his eyebrows. 

"Where to begin? She's afraid of water." Seiko didn't hesitate to answer. "She lives with you?" 

Laito nodded as an answer. 

"Then I'm sure you must have heard about her allergy." Seiko used her fingers as quotation marks. "That's a lie. She always ate everything my mother cooked." 

"Out, now!" Laito pointed at the door. "This is not your homeroom." He knew Chisana wouldn't lie about her health.

Laito waited until they were back in the car. "Maybe some of you heard but there is a new transfer student. It turns out that Seiko is Chisa-chan's stepsister." 

Chisana didn't like it and put her music on. Please give me some time. Having to see her again after three weeks and demanding I do her homework. She has nothing on me. Not to mention that these guys could straight up kill her if she does something wrong. As much as I don't like her, I don't want her to end up dead. 

Reiji read the message loud and clear. "Having Seiko at night school could complicate things." If Seiko so much try to hurt Chisana, he would kill the girl.

On automatic pilot, Chisana entered the kitchen and saw Reiji serving breakfast. "Good afternoon, Reiji."
