Diana's POV

I watched as Cassie led Cereza out before turning to Kingston.

He let out a sigh. "I am really worried about her. She is terrified." He said. I nodded. "I know, I wish we could do something about it." I said. Then I got an idea. "Do you think it would make her more comfortable if she saw some familiar faces in the crowd? Like, if we invited her friends?" I asked.

"If it will make her more comfortable. She's close with Annabella's daughter Rae and her friends, right? We could invite them." Kingston said.

"Yeah, we could spread them out, so Cereza sees them when she looks out into the crowd. Oh! And then we could surprise her with Penelope and Jason afterwards! She would be so happy!" I exclaimed.

I summoned my phone and immediately called Annabella.

PHONE CALL
"Hello?" I heard Annabella answer.

"Annabella, quick! What are you doing and where is your daughter?" I asked.

Annabella stuttered a bit before answering, seemingly taken aback. "Uh, I didn't plan on doing anything today, and Rae is probably with one of her friends right now." She said.

"Put her on 3-way!" I exclaimed.

"Why?" She asked.

"Kingston is throwing a ball to announce Cereza as crowned princess to the kingdom, and she is terrified. I'm inviting her friends to come, and hopefully seeing them there will help her calm down." I said.

"Okay, calling her now." Annabella said. We waited a moment before Rae answered the phone. "Hi Mom, did you need something?" Rae asked when she picked up.

"Hey sweetie, I've got Diana on the line. Do you want to attend Cereza's Princess Ball?" Annabella asked.

"What? Cereza's having a ball??? AIN'T NOBODY TOLD ME NOTHING!!! OF COURSE I WANT TO GO! I'M CALLING THE GIRLS RIGHT NOW!!!" Rae yelled. "Wait, wait, wait! Rae! None of you are to say anything to Cereza! It's a surprise!" I exclaimed.

"GREAT, PERFECT, GOTCHA, GOTTA GO!!!" Rae yelled before hanging up. Annabella laughed at her daughter's antics. "So, I guess that means we'll see you later?" She asked.
I giggled. "Yeah, I guess so. See you in a few hours." I said. "Alright, bye." Annabella said before hanging up.

"I don't know why I didn't think to extend the invitation to them in the first place, I wasn't thinking." Kingston said.

"Yeah, and Cereza hates being in situations where she doesn't know anybody or doesn't know what she's doing. I should have come with her to start, but I let my hatred for your mother get in the way of that." I said.

"By the way, do you think you could sit down with Mother and have a civil conversation?" He asked.

I scoffed. "I won't be saying anything. The only words I want to hear are, "I was wrong," "You didn't deserve to be treated that way," "I'm sorry, I was being a hater." Or something akin to that." I said.

"Well, if Mother follows through with her promise to Cereza, then you will hear them." Kingston said.

"Then a civil conversation we will have." I said. "Perfect, we'll figure out the details on that later. Back to the matter at hand, I'll contact Freyja and ask her to tailor a few more outfits for Cereza's friends." Kingston said.

"Oh, don't worry about Rae and her friends, Annabella will take care of them. Just have her tailor for Jason and Penelope." I said.

"Even better!" He said.
