Edgar Allan Poe and Edogawa Ranpo had been circling around each other for weeks, their interactions charged with a mixture of intellectual rivalry and unspoken attraction towards each other. The members of the Armed Detective Agency and The Guild were equally bemused and intrigued by this peculiar dynamic.

But finally one sunny afternoon, after an intense game of literary riddles that ended in a draw, Poe mustered up the courage to ask Ranpo out on a date. Ranpo, with his usual confident smirk, agreed immediately making Poe excited and nervous.

After some talking they decided to meet at a quaint little café nestled between the bustling streets of Yokohama. The café was known for its peaceful ambiance, perfect for two minds that thrived on mystery and deduction.

Poe arrived first to the café, his usual dark attire starkly contrasting the light, airy environment of the café. He chose a table in the corner, away from the windows, where they could converse in relative privacy. As he sat, he nervously adjusted, his mind racing with potential topics of conversation and the fear of awkward silences.

Ranpo arrived 10 minutes later fashionably late, a bright grin on his face and an air of nonchalance that only he could pull off. He spotted Poe immediately and made his way over, dropping into the seat opposite of Poe with an effortless grace.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Ranpo said, though his tone suggested he wasn't particularly sorry.

Poe waved it off tho, managing a small smile. "No problem at all. I hope you don't mind this place. I thought it would be... conducive to conversation."

Ranpo looked around, nodding appreciatively. "It's nice. So, Poe, I've been wondering, what made you decide to ask me out? Finally giving in to my charms?"

Poe's cheeks reddened slightly, but he held Ranpo's gaze. "I thought it might be interesting to spend time together outside of our usual... contexts. Plus, I believe there's more to you than meets the eye, and I'd like to get to know that side of you."

Ranpo's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Always the investigator, huh Poe? Well, I'm an open book. Ask away."

Their conversation flowed easily, surprising them both. They talked about their favorite novels, their methods of deduction, and their experiences with The Detective Agency and The Guild. Poe found himself laughing more than he had in a long time, and Ranpo seemed genuinely interested in Poe's stories, his usual air of superiority replaced with genuine curiosity.

After an hour or so, they finished their drinks and food, Poe suggested a walk by the nearby river. Ranpo agreed, and they left the café after Poe payed, stepping into the warm afternoon sun.

As they strolled along the riverbank together, Poe found himself relaxing even more. "I have to admit," he said, "I was nervous about today. I'm not usually one for... social interactions."

Ranpo chuckled, nudging him playfully. "You did fine. More than fine, actually. I had a great time with you today, Poe."

They soon stopped at a bench overlooking the water, and Ranpo sat down, patting the space beside him. Poe joined him, feeling a strange sense of contentment.

"You know," Ranpo said after a moment of comfortable silence, "I've always respected you, Poe. You're brilliant, and not just in your writing. Today only confirmed that."

Poe looked at him,his face getting a bit red, his heart pounding a little faster. "Thank you, Ranpo. That means a lot coming from you."

Ranpo leaned in slightly, his expression softening. "Maybe we should do this again sometime. There's still a lot we haven't talked about."

Poe nodded, a genuine smile spreading across his face. "I'd like that."

They sat there for a while longer, watching the sun set over the river, two brilliant minds finding solace in each other's company. It was the beginning of something neither of them had anticipated but both were eager to explore.

Poe soon stood up extending his hand for Ranpo to take, as Ranpo took Poe's hand as they continued to walk the riverbank, with their hands still intertwined, Ranpo stole a few glances at Poe as they walked feeling comfort, as they walked Ranpo walked closer to Poe being shoulder to shoulder with him as they walked.

As they walked they almost passed a flower shop, as Poe stopped walking he let go of Ranpo's hand "stay here, I'll be right back!" Poe walked back walking into the flower shop, after a few minutes of waiting Ranpo got a bit impatient as he stood waiting for Poe.

Poe soon came back walking to Ranpo with a red rose and a bag of chocolates in his hand, Ranpo saw them in Poe's hand as he walked to him handing him the rose and bag of chocolates "Here, I know how much you like sweets and the flower is just a bonus" Ranpo's eyes sparkled as he took the bag of chocolates and the rose from Poe's hand smelling the rose as he saw the brand of chocolates Poe bought him were his favorite brand.

Ranpo smiled at Poe as he opened the bag of chocolates unwrapping a piece putting it in his mouth "How did you know these were my favorite?" Poe blushes a bit at the question "Whenever we saw each other... You would have lollipops are pieces of chocolates with you.. and one day you dropped a piece and I picked it up and saw what brand it was" Ranpo could see Poe's face getting darker as he tried to explain himself which made Ranpo chuckle a bit.

"So you kept that in mind of things that I liked"

Poe nodded at Ranpo as he ate the chocolate he had in his mouth and as he put the bag in his pocket he held the rose in his hand "Should we keep walking?" Poe smiled as he continued to walk with Ranpo beside him, Ranpo smiled and looked down at Poe's hand feeling the urge to hold his hand again like they were before, Ranpo glanced at Poe as he grabbed Poe's hand.

Poe looked at Ranpo "Is something wrong Ranpo?" Ranpo looked up at Poe and shook his head trying to find a reason to give Poe to why he's holding his hand "No nothings wrong it's just.. you're walking kind of fast so holding your hand helps me keep up with you is all" Ranpo could see the worry leave Poe's face when he told him the reason, Poe smiled and took Ranpo's hand interlocking them "Alright, we should get going, where do you want to go?" Ranpo smiled as him and Poe talked about where to go next so their date could continue for a while longer before they needed to separate.

After another hour Poe and Ranpo agreed that they should end the date there since it was getting dark, they started walking to The Armed Detective Agency since it was close, as they walked Ranpo shared a few pieces of chocolates with Poe, soon they got to The Armed Detective Agency, Ranpo turned to Poe smiling "I had a great time on our date, Poe" Poe smiled at Ranpo "I had a great time too, we need to do this again soon" Ranpo nodded as he walked towards the door of The Detective Agency.

Ranpo turned around and walked back towards Poe "Ranpo?" Ranpo got on his tippy toes and gently grabbed Poe's face kissing his lips softly, Poe's eyes widened in shock then closed as he softly kissed back putting a hand on Ranpo's back keeping him steady, Ranpo soon pulled away and thanked Poe for the great date and said their goodbyes, Ranpo walked into The Detective Agency building walking into the office seeing everyone working besides Dazai who was on the couch listening to music.

Yosano saw Ranpo walk in and walked up to him asking him questions about his date with Poe also taking interest into the rose Ranpo had in his hand "A gift from Poe I'm guessing?" Ranpo looked at the rose he got from Poe and smiled "Yep, we stopped at a flower shop and he got me a rose and a bag of my favorite chocolates as well" Yosano smiled happily that Ranpo had a good time and asked more questions through the next few hours until they left The Detective Agency building for the night.
