Atsushi shifted nervously, glancing around Akutagawa's small apartment as the evening light dimmed. It wasn't the first time he'd been here, but tonight was different. This was the first time he was staying over for the night, and the weight of that realization hung between them like the tension of a silent storm. They were officially a couple now, and the idea of sharing such a private, intimate space felt both thrilling and terrifying.
Akutagawa sat on the edge of the bed, his back stiff, eyes fixed on the floor as if he could sense Atsushi's unease. The room was small, with minimal decoration, just like Akutagawa himself, efficient, quiet, but with a hidden depth Atsushi had grown to understand over time.
"Are you nervous, Jinko?" Akutagawa's voice cut through the silence, his tone almost accusatory, though Atsushi knew that was just his way of covering his own uncertainty.
"N-No, not really," Atsushi lied, rubbing the back of his neck. He was nervous. Terrified, actually. Not because he was uncomfortable with Akutagawa, it was quite the opposite. It was how much he cared that made him anxious. How much he wanted this to go well.
Akutagawa stood, walking toward Atsushi with a slow, deliberate pace. His dark eyes flickered with an intensity that made Atsushi's heart race. "You're a terrible liar, Atsushi" he muttered, stopping just a few inches away. The closeness made the room feel smaller, their breaths mingling in the space between them.
Atsushi's throat felt dry as Akutagawa reached out, his cold fingers brushing against Atsushi's arm. "It's just... I've never done this before," Atsushi admitted, his voice softer now, more vulnerable.
"And you think I have?" Akutagawa's lips curled into a half-smirk, the barest hint of amusement in his voice, though his gaze remained sharp. "I'm not exactly a people person."
"I know that pretty well, Akutagawa" Atsushi said, a small smile forming despite the tension. "But that's why... this means a lot."
Akutagawa's smirk faded, replaced by something softer, more uncertain. He exhaled, as if the weight of the moment had finally settled over him too. "I don't know how to do this," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Atsushi's heart ached at how vulnerable Akutagawa looked in that moment. He took a step closer, closing the distance between them. "We'll figure it out," he said quietly, his hand finding Akutagawa's, squeezing it gently.
For a moment, neither of them moved, the tension shifting from awkwardness to something warmer, something more electric. Atsushi looked up, meeting Akutagawa's gaze, and before he could second-guess himself, he leaned in.
Their lips met softly at first, hesitant at first. But it didn't take long for the kiss to deepen between them, the spark between them igniting into something more intense. Akutagawa's hand slid up Atsushi's back, pulling him closer, and Atsushi's fingers curled into the fabric of Akutagawa's shirt.
It was new, all of it, but it felt right to both of them.
When they finally broke apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other. Akutagawa's lips were slightly swollen, his eyes half-lidded as he looked at Atsushi with an intensity that made Atsushi's heart skip a beat.
"You don't have to be nervous," Akutagawa said, his voice a little rough around the edges, his fingers tracing slow, deliberate circles on Atsushi's arm.
Atsushi smiled, feeling the last of his anxiety melt away. "I'm not nervous anymore."
Atsushi and Akutagawa stood there, hearts pounding in sync, their breaths steadying after that intense kiss. Akutagawa's grip on Atsushi's arm tightened ever so slightly, his gaze unwavering as if silently testing Atsushi's resolve.
