Ship - Shin Soukoku

Atsushi sat nervously on the couch, his fingers fidgeting with the hem of his jacket. Akutagawa had asked him to come over to talk to him, his voice unusually curt. For the past few days, Akutagawa had been distant with Atsushi, and Atsushi couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. His heart sank at the thought of their relationship ending.
They had been together for almost a year, and despite their rough start, they'd found a rhythm. A strange but meaningful connection had grown between them, one built on mutual respect, affection, and understanding that no one else seemed to get. But lately, Akutagawa had been quieter than usual, and Atsushi feared the worst.
When Akutagawa finally walked into the room, his expression was unreadable. He stood in front of Atsushi, his dark eyes piercing but his lips pressed into a tight line. Atsushi braced himself for the worst.
"Atsushi," Akutagawa began, his tone as flat as ever. "We need to talk."
Atsushi's heart pounded in his chest. This is it. He's going to break up with me. He swallowed hard, nodding as he tried to keep his emotions in check. "Okay... I'm listening."
Akutagawa narrowed his eyes, seemingly puzzled by Atsushi's hesitance, but he continued. "I've been thinking about our relationship."
Atsushi winced. That's definitely not a good sign. His hands clenched on his lap, knuckles turning white. "Y-Yeah?" His voice came out shaky, betraying his attempt at staying calm.
"I've come to a decision," Akutagawa said, his voice softer but still firm. He hesitated for a brief second, as if weighing his next words. "I think we should... live together."
Atsushi blinked, not sure if he'd heard correctly. "W-What?" He stammered, confusion replacing the dread that had been gnawing at him.
Akutagawa's expression remained stoic, though there was a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. "I said, we should move in together."
For a moment, Atsushi was too stunned to speak. He had spent the last few days convinced Akutagawa was going to end things with him, but now, now he was asking him to move in with him? It didn't make sense. "Wait... so you're not breaking up with me?"
Akutagawa's brow furrowed in irritation. "Why would I break up with you?"
Atsushi could feel the heat rising to his face, embarrassed that he'd jumped to the worst possible conclusion. "I just... you've been so distant lately, and I thought maybe... maybe you weren't happy anymore."
Akutagawa let out a sigh, looking away briefly as if collecting his thoughts. "Idiot," he muttered under his breath. "I've been distant because I've been thinking. This is a big decision. I didn't want to rush it."
Atsushi's heart swelled with relief and something else, an overwhelming tenderness for Akutagawa. He always had a way of being cold and guarded, but Atsushi knew better. Beneath that hard exterior was someone who cared deeply, even if he wasn't good at showing it.
"I... I'm sorry for misunderstanding," Atsushi said, his voice soft, feeling a bit foolish.
Akutagawa gave him a long look before sitting down beside him. "You're always overthinking things." His tone wasn't harsh, more resigned, as if he'd accepted this about Atsushi. "I'm not good with this... relationship stuff, but I want you with me. Permanently."
Atsushi felt his chest tighten with emotion, a small smile tugging at his lips. "You really mean it? You want us to live together?"
Akutagawa nodded, his expression as serious as ever. "Yes. If you don't want to, that's fine, but—"
