Two Days Later
"I really wanted to apologize! I'm sorry!"
I drank my coffee. My grip on the cup tightened as I watched her tear-filled eyes. I sighed and leaned my head back, staring at the ceiling.
Tsk.
She wanted to apologize for that? She thought I would exact revenge on someone like that. Pathetic. I have other plans for you, Kanna Mori.
But why... why does this affect me then so much?
I straightened up, put down my coffee cup, and stood.
Utahime burst into the teachers' lounge.
Her gaze landed on my empty cup. "Hey, wash that!"
I looked at her annoyed, grabbed the cup, and placed it in the dishwasher.
She glared at me.
I ignored her and left the teachers' lounge.
The little brats were on another mission, so I had some free time. I walked down the hall. The wood creaked under my feet. Today, I covered my eyes again with my blindfold. I stepped outside and was surprised, even slightly speechless.
There she stood, her hand tightly gripping her bag, her gaze determined, her black hair hanging down like a black hole, and her brown eyes staring at the ground before wandering to me. She twitched her button nose and defiantly placed a hand on her hip.
Her chin lifted, her voice defiant "Huh, what is it? Why are you staring at me like that? Hmm?!"
She crossed her arms over her chest. "Tsk, did you really think a fight would stop me from coming back and still becoming a teacher?!"
She pointed a finger at me. "You thought wrong!"
She got so close that her chest almost touched mine, naturally on tiptoes. "I'm Kanna, and I don't give up so easily! You can keep being mad at me at home!"
She then withdrew her finger and poked me in the chest with each word: "I. Will. Become. A. Teacher." Her gaze hardened. "And if that means I have to drag your ass here."
A brief silence ensued. The wind blew lightly through the trees.
Awkward silence...
I looked at her blankly. "Ara?"
She swallowed hard and blushed slightly with embarrassment.
