I had been here for four days now. Despite the time that had passed, I couldn't sleep peacefully because I was paranoid or plagued by nightmares that they would come to take me back. I sat outside, cross-legged on the ground, watching the tall grass sway gently in the breeze. The fresh air brushed through my hair, and the scent of nature filled my nose.
I closed my eyes for a moment, savoring the tranquility.
It felt so good to be away from home... my own rules, my own system, doing what I wanted.
I opened my eyes again and stood up, walking slowly towards the field with my hands behind my back. I wondered if anyone else in the world felt like I did.
Did anyone understand me?
I sighed. I couldn't stay here much longer; it was too risky.
I heard Tabaka calling for me, "Kanna! Breakfast is ready."
I turned to face him, and for a brief moment, his eyes widened before he quickly looked away and went back inside. A tear rolled down my cheek and fell to the ground. I stared at it for a moment before heading inside.
Tabaka was 22, a well-built man. He wasn't bad looking and seemed to sympathize with me. I glanced at the dining table. He was half Japanese and half American, with black hair slicked back, wearing a shirt and loose jeans. His hazel eyes gleamed in the sunlight.
I stretched, "It's fine, I just want an apple and a coffee."
He raised an eyebrow, "Hey, you can't eat so little."
I smiled at him, "It's okay, I'm used to it."
His mouth opened slightly before he pressed his lips together, "If you say so."
I was confused, but it didn't matter. I grabbed an apple, and he made me a coffee, handing it to me. I looked into the cup, seeing my reflection. I took a bite of my apple and a sip of coffee.
He sighed, "Are you sure you want to leave today?"
I nodded with a full mouth and swallowed, "Yes, unfortunately. But it was nice getting to know you."
He gave a faint smile, "Likewise, Kanna."
I quickly finished my apple and drank my coffee. I helped him clean up and grabbed my packed bag.
I placed a hand on his shoulder, "Thank you for taking me in for four days."
He suddenly hugged me, catching me by surprise, "Take care of yourself."
My eyes widened, and I smiled, "Of course."
I released the hug and headed to the door. I froze in my tracks.
The cursed energy... the inhuman cursed energy... known as the strongest.
I turned to Tabaka, panic in my voice, "SOMEONE FROM THE JUJUTSU ACADEMY IS HERE. YOU KNOW THE PLAN."
