Author's Pov:In a small village, a young woman in her early twenties stood by the window, gazing out at the evening rain. With her chores completed, she savored the peaceful moment, holding a warm cup of tea in her hands. Her long, black hair cascaded down to her waist, and her deep brown eyes reflected the beauty of the scene outside. Her fair skin glowed softly in the dim light, and there was a natural elegance to her presence. Her voice, sweet like honey, added to her charm, making her a picture of quiet beauty and grace.
She is just having tea sip by sip. Then a voice came from behind shouting at her...
"Shivani what are you doing here? It seems like you are enjoying it."
Shivani stood frozen in place, gripping the chai cup tightly as nerves coursed through her. Her voice trembled as she finally managed to say...
"chachi what happened? did I make any mistake.." she said softly..
Then a voice came from Nandhini which is none other than shivani's chachi saying like this...
"so you want to hear from my mouth haa.."
She said angrily.. and then she said...
"okay then listen", and then hold shivan's ear..
Here shivani is feeling pain in ear and requests her chachi to leave her but her chachi didn't listen to her plead and started saying this,
"How dare you leave the clothes out on the terrace when it's raining!" she shouted angrily. Then, with a mocking tone, she added, "And here we have our maharani ji, sitting and enjoying her tea. Hmm... wait, do you really think you're some kind of princess? When your own father doesn't even acknowledge you as his daughter?" A wicked smile spread across her face as she spoke.
As soon as Nandhini mentioned her father's relationship with her, Shivani's eyes welled up, and tears began to fall uncontrollably. Nandhini, satisfied by the pain she had caused, finally released her grip on Shivani's ear and walked away, leaving her behind. Shivani collapsed to her knees, sobbing quietly, her heart heavy. She gazed out the window, her eyes brimming with unshed tears, struggling to hold them back.
" Maa are you listening to me?... Maa why did you leave me here I wish I could join you too, No I Wish I should have died in your place, then all this problem will be erased..
Maa why did you leave me here... there is no one in the world who could take care of me and who can love me... By the time I was born you left me and also papa distanced himself from me.. There is no one in the world with whom I can share my pain..."
Tears she had held back for so long began to flow freely, streaming down her cheeks like a river. A cool breeze brushed against her face, bringing a sense of lightness to her heart. After a while, she wiped her eyes, calming herself. She walked into the kitchen, placed the teacup in the sink, and headed for the stairs. Gathering the clothes that had been hanging out to dry, she paused, already soaked from the rain. Instead of retreating inside, she set the clothes aside, drawn to the downpour. Stepping out, she let herself fully enjoy the rain. But as she stood there, the words her chachi had spoken moments earlier echoed in her mind, and a fresh wave of emotion hit her. This time, however, her tears were hidden within the rain, indistinguishable from the drops falling around her. She closed her eyes, deep in thought, when a voice called out her name. Shivani turned to see her cousin, Pranav, standing behind her. Three years younger but kind-hearted, he was the one person in the family who truly understood her pain.
With an innocent expression, Pranav asked, "Di... what are you doing out here?"
Shivani hesitated for a moment before replying, "Me? I... I came out to enjoy the rain. But you—what are you doing here?"
Shivani quickly shifted the focus to him, "And you? What are you doing here?"Pranav, trying to keep his composure, replied, "Me? I came to enjoy the rain too..."
But Shivani knew better. He had actually come upstairs to make a phone call, and she could easily guess who it was—his girlfriend, a secret he kept from everyone. Yet, nothing stayed hidden from his big sister. With one look at his shy, wandering eyes and that adorable, guilty expression, Shivani could see right through him.
Shivani teased, "So, who’s the lucky girl who’s stolen my little brother’s heart, huh?"Her playful tone made Pranav blush, and he stammered, "I—it's not like that!"
Pranav asked innocently, "Who? Who are you talking about, Di?"
Shivani replied, "Alright, I won’t ask any more questions. You can tell me when you’re ready, okay?"Pranav smiled softly at her, and soon the rain began to let up. They both headed downstairs, each retreating to their respective rooms. ~~~~~~~~~
