Author's pov...

The sky was painted in hues of orange and gold as the sun dipped low on the horizon. Birds soared gently across the sky, returning to their nests. The soft rustling of leaves and the fragrance of blooming flowers filled the air with peace.

Shivani sat quietly on a wooden bench in the middle of the garden, her dupatta fluttering with the breeze, and her hair swaying like waves, gently kissed by the evening wind. She looked ethereal, as if she belonged to this serene twilight.

Abhimanyu stood at a distance, watching her.

His chest loosened for the first time in what felt like an eternity. She looked calm... safe. Alive.

He walked over and sat beside her, not wanting to disturb the stillness around her.

" What are you looking at? " he asked softly.

" Nothing," she replied with a faint smile, leaning her head on his shoulder.

A silence fell between them, not empty-but full of everything unspoken.

"I missed you," she murmured, her voice tender.

"Me too," he whispered, closing his eyes briefly.

She lifted her head and turned to him, gently cupping his cheeks. Her touch was soft, like a memory. She kissed his forehead... then his cheeks, and he let his eyes fall shut, basking in the warmth of her presence.

"Abhimanyu," she said, her voice quivering just slightly, "I love you."

His lips curled into a smile. "I love you too."

Then, she stood up.

He frowned. "Where are you going?"

She didn't answer.

She began to walk away.

"Shivani..." he called after her, rising from the bench.

She kept walking.

"Shivani, wait!" His voice cracked. "Please don't go..."

His feet moved, chasing her shadow-but the more he moved, the farther she seemed. Until suddenly...

She vanished.

Like mist in the morning sun.

"Shivani!" he screamed.

Nothing.

Just emptiness. Silence. A hollow ache tearing through his chest. His tears spilled without restraint, his voice hoarse from calling her name.

Then... a sharp, high-pitched sound filled the air.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The world around him faded into white.

And then... he opened his eyes.

Harsh hospital lights greeted him. His body felt heavy, his chest wrapped in pain. The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor pulsed beside him. Tubes were attached to his arms, oxygen at his nose. A soft murmur of voices echoed in the background.

Doctors surrounded him, their faces flooding with relief.

"He's awake!" one of them exclaimed.

Abhimanyu blinked slowly, trying to make sense of where he was.
