Author's pov:

After a brief conversation with Amith and Dheeraj, Abhimanyu made his way down the stairs. He paused for a moment, his gaze falling on the crowd gathered in the hall. A strange uneasiness stirred in his chest, but he chose to ignore it and walked forward.

"What's going on here?" he asked, but his eyes quickly landed on Manu-clutched tightly in her mother's arms, her small frame soaked in water.

"Manu..." he whispered and rushed to her side. "What happened?"he asked, looking around at everyone.

A moment of silence blanketed the room. No one dared to speak, fear flickering in their eyes. Finally, Anjali stepped forward, her words sharp and accusatory.

"Your wife threw Manu into the water. She didn't want the child to stay in this house."

"What?"Abhimanyu's voice trembled with disbelief.

"That's nonsense! Shivani would never do something like that. I trust her with my life, she would never put Manu in danger. Where is she?" he demanded, his eyes scanning the room, searching, but she was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly, Manu began to cry. Panic rippled through the room as Abhimanyu immediately pulled her into his arms, gently rocking her.

"It's okay, bacha. Your mamu is here. Tell me, are you hurt? What happened?"
he asked softly.

Manu slowly looked up at him, her eyes filled with fear. "I'm scaled..." she said in her innocent voice.

(I'm scared)

" Why are you scared, bacha..?" he asked.

She raised her tiny finger and pointed toward Anjali.

"Mamu, please ask that dadi to go away from hele... I'm scaled of hel..." she said, making everyone turn toward Anjali in confusion.

(Please ask that grandma to go away from here, I'm scared of her)

"She scolds me and slaps me, like she slapped Shivani mami..." Manu said tearfully.

Shock spread across the room. Abhimanyu stared at her, stunned. So did Adhi, Arha, and Jaidev, as they had no idea this had happened.

" Why, Manu? Why did dadi slap Shivani mami?" Abhimanyu asked gently.

He turned his attention to his mother and sister, both now standing silently in fear.

"What happened, Ma?" he asked, his tone calm but heavy with authority.

"Wo... Bhai... actually..." Vaidehi stammered.

Jaidev turned toward Guari. "Is it true, Guari? Did Anjali really hit Shivani?"

Guari nodded hesitantly. "Yes."

Abhimanyu's expression hardened. His eyes locked on Anjali.

"How dare you raise your hand on my wife?" he roared, his voice shaking with fury.

Anjali stepped back, visibly shaken, while Jaidev looked at Guari in disappointment.

"I didn't do anything wrong! That girl has no moral values! Ever since she came, she's been trying to come between you and Ma. I had to.." Anjali's voice was abruptly cut off by the sound of a sharp slap.

It was Meenakshi ji.

She had just returned and overheard everything. The way her grand daughter-in-law had been treated in her absence filled her with rage. She had wanted to surprise everyone with her return and had asked Ajith to pick her up from the airport quietly.
