Breaking free

Episode 37

" How have you been?" He asked patting a space next to him.

" Alhamdullilah, how was work?" I asked.

" It was good Alhamdullilah, we opened a new branch of our company so that's good." He says.

" Ohh, Masha Allah"

" So... I've been thinking about you a lot when I was away" He said.

" Same but just a little." I replied and he smiled but it didn't reach his eyes.

" So what's are thinking now?"

" Um, I'm willing to try for the kids. I just want you to reduce being intimate with me." I say full of confidence but it was like I was also trying to make myself believe that.

" Why?" He says.

" I don't know what you do with Afrah and I don't want to know, so I think it's best that we don't share that aspect if the marriage since it clearly doesn't mean anything to you." I say not looking at him. I could still feel his gaze on me.

" I don't think that's possible, and just to clear something, I have never been intimate with Afrah in that way, but is that how you see me?" He says, the pain evident in his voice.

" Ahmad what do you want me to think, that you guys go places just to laugh and play, you and I both know that's not possible. Look I don't want to turn this into an argument. You don't agree with what I say, then fine, it's your choice after all." I say.

" I understand that, but believe me when I say I haven't committed zina with Afrah"

" OK I hear you. Infront of the kids, we are a perfect couple, after then, we can drop the act. They deserve a loving family and that's what we are going to give them, okay?" I say and he nods.

" OK then." He says and leaves the room.

I huff out the air that I was holding in. Finally, I have said what I wanted to say so I am finally relieved.

I look at myself in the woman and I don't see the broken woman anymore that is being abused but a strong one, that stands up for herself and her opinions.

I planned a little outing for us tomorrow to a new theme park, Fun Village.

It's been long since we have had an outing all together so I think this is the perfect time to go.

The next day, we leave the house by 11am to get there early because its really full on holiday.

I wore a green shirt and pants and the kids wore white.

Ahmad drove and we reached there fast.

" Maama can I climb ferris wheel?" Amma says as soon as she sees it.

" Later baby, let's get our tickets" I say and she nods.

We get our tickets and we all go on bumper cars. Amma is with Ahmad, as usual and Awwal is with me.

I and Awwal win the race and Amma gets upset but her daddy calms her down.

We get a hotdog, I get mine with extra toppings. The kids really love hotdogs.

" Let me take this call." Ahmad says and walks a bit further.

He comes back and take the kids to the Arcade to play some games as we cool off in the Ac.

It's time for lunch so we get Pizza and Tacos for lunch at the food court. Their food is really good so I make sure to check them out on Instagram.

We go out and a photographer asks to take pictures of us as a family.
