Bianca Dawson
The Interview
A few months earlier...
•••It was the morning of the interview, and I wasn't nervous – I was confident. Being nervous gets you no where, in fact I think it's the easiest way to self sabotage. I knew this was my chance to take a step closer to my desires and nothing would stand in the way of that.
I ate breakfast at my small kitchen table, scrolling through my discover page on Instagram as I swallowed two pills, I had to distract myself so I didn't vomit I hated taking pills, especially this type.
A smile spread across my face as I noticed Jude had posted one of his usual dumps. I carefully analyzed each photo, trying to decipher the locations and piece together his recent activities.
Jude, was the star of my life. I had always enjoyed football, but there was just something about him, something about him that pulled me in. He was on my mind all day everyday, I didn't just want to meet him. I just had to have him.
After finishing my coffee, I took a shower then got dressed. I opted for a business casual look: a tailored navy blazer over a crisp white blouse, paired with slim black trousers and low-heeled ankle boots. I styled my hair in loose waves, framing my face neatly, and kept my makeup minimal yet polished.
Madrid's morning sun was bright as I stepped out of my apartment and headed to the nearest metro station. The tube ride to the agency was relatively short, and I used the time to mentally prepare for the interview. I had done my research on Gran Elite Services and felt ready to impress them. I had no other choice but to.
When I arrived at the sleek, modern building that housed the agency, I took a moment to steady my breath. The entrance was imposing, with large glass doors and a minimalist design. I pushed through the doors and was greeted by a spacious, tastefully decorated lobby. The receptionist, a well-dressed woman with a friendly smile, welcomed me.
"Good morning. How can I help you?" she asked.
"Good morning. I'm Bianca Dawson, here for an interview," I replied, my voice steady.
She checked her list and nodded. "Please take a seat. Someone will be with you shortly."
I sat on one of the plush chairs, glancing around the room. I reviewed my talking points in my head, reminding myself of my strengths and what made me different. After a few minutes, a door opened, and a woman stepped out. She looked to be in her mid-thirties, impeccably dressed, with an air of authority. "Bianca Dawson?" she called.
I stood up and smiled. "Yes, that's me."
"Please follow me," she said, leading me down a corridor to a conference room. The room was spacious, with a large mahogany table and comfortable chairs. Three people were seated at the table, waiting for me.
"Good morning," I greeted them as I took my seat.
"Good morning, Bianca," the man in the middle said, glancing at a file in front of him. "I'm Mr. Rodriguez, and this is Ms. Lopez and Mr. Fernandez. Thank you for coming in today."
"It's my pleasure," I replied, maintaining steady eye contact while sitting upright.
Mr. Rodriguez looked down at his notes. "Bianca, we see you have a degree in engineering from the University of Madrid. Can you tell us about your background and why you're applying for this position?"
I nodded, prepared for this question. "Certainly. While my degree is in engineering, my career path has taken some unexpected turns." I leaned forward slightly, keeping my voice confident.
"The job market in Madrid has been challenging, and despite my qualifications, finding a position in my field has proven difficult. However, throughout my time in university, I developed strong organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail. These skills are highly transferable and can be very beneficial in a household management role."
