Bianca Dawson
Sleuth
•••I woke up in Jude Bellingham's house, the thought of us sleeping just a few rooms away from each other gave me a rush. I can't imagine what it will be like when we finally share a bed. The excitement of being so close to him, yet so far, was almost too much to handle. Almost too good to be true.
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and padded to the bathroom. After washing my face and brushing my teeth, I felt more awake and ready to tackle the day. I slipped into my gear for my early morning run—a pair of comfortable leggings and a light, breathable top. I tied my hair back and quietly made my way down to the kitchen.
As I approached, I heard voices. Jude and Alexis were talking, and their tones were serious. I slowed my pace, not wanting to interrupt, but curiosity got the best of me.
"I'm uncomfortable with her living here. I'm uncomfortable with her on staff. I still can't believe you made such a big decision in our home without me," Alexis said, her voice edged with frustration.
"Again, I'm sorry," Jude replied, sounding genuinely apologetic. "But give her a fair chance."
"She clearly has an agenda. I don't want her here. The agency messed up. Such a reputable place and that's the best they could send, a fucking inexperienced 21 year old?" Alexis countered, her voice rising slightly.
"Language baby, there's no need for that right now"Jude said calmly.
"Mom already called the agency. The emails were sent, and the other two chose not to show up. Let's just give her a chance, what's done is done," He insisted.
"I'm not happy about it," she said, her voice trailing off just as I stepped into view.
"Morning," I greeted them, trying to sound casual. They both looked surprised, clearly wondering how much I had heard.
"My mini-fridge upstairs isn't cooling," I explained, holding up a small bag. "So I brought down my yogurt and fruit for my early morning jog."
Jude recovered first, nodding at me. "Good morning, Bianca. We'll have someone look at that fridge today, sorry about that."
"Thank you," I said, putting my items into the large, gleaming refrigerator. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything important."
Alexis shot Jude a look, then forced a tight smile. "Not at all. Just discussing some house matters."
I nodded, sensing the tension but deciding not to push further. "Well, I'm heading out for my run."
Jude glanced at my running gear and smiled. "Actually, I run in the mornings too. Why don't you wait a minute? I'll show you the trail."
"Sure," I said casually, but I knew it was his pattern it was right there in the document he gave me, certain ingredients can never run out at the house because when he gets back he likes his shake or smoothie.
Jude quickly changed into his own exercise clothes, and within minutes, we were heading out together. Alexis watched us leave, her eyes filled with suspicion and irritation.
We stepped outside into the crisp morning air. He pointed towards a well-worn path. "This way. It's a good trail, not too challenging but enough to get a good workout."
"Thanks," I said, falling into step beside him. As we started jogging, I couldn't help but notice how effortlessly he moved, his athleticism evident in every stride.
"So, did you sleep well last night?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"I did, thanks for asking" I replied, keeping my pace steady.
