It was 3 AM, and despite the late hour, sleep eluded me. Tossing and turning in bed, I couldn't escape the sounds traveling from Alexis' and Jude room. She kept moaning his name, the sound carrying through the walls as if she wanted the entire house to hear. Each time her voice echoed, it felt like they were right there next to me.

Hours passed and they were still at it, what the fuck?

It was clear she wasn't trying to be discreet, making me wonder if her intent was to ensure I knew what was happening behind their closed door. Finally, as the night stretched on, exhaustion probably claimed her, and silence fell over the house once more.

Yet, just as I began to drift off, my own alarm cut through the quiet, signaling the start of a new day. With a sigh, I rose from bed, feeling the weight of a sleepless night heavy on my shoulders. Despite my fatigue, I knew my morning jog awaited, a new routine I clung to for obvious reasons.

Descending the stairs to the kitchen, my steps echoed softly against the floorboards. I reached for a glass of water, my mind still foggy from the disrupted sleep. That's when I saw Alexis standing there, a smile on her face, as if she hadn't spent the night moaning and calling out Jude's name.

"Good morning," she greeted me, her voice cheerful and composed. "Did you sleep well?"

Her asking that question was all the confirmation she needed. It's funny how my mere presence makes her insecure in her relationship, why did she feel the need to do all of this? How could she ask that with such innocence after a night like that? I felt a bit of irritation, but I masked it with a polite nod. "Not really," I replied tersely, trying to keep my voice neutral.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," she responded, her smile widening slightly. "Maybe you should try to relax more before bed. I find meditation helps me unwind."

Her suggestion rubbed me the wrong way. Was she mocking me, implying that her loud escapades hadn't affected my sleep at all? Or was she genuinely oblivious to the disturbance she had caused? I wont even pretend it's the latter.

Ignoring the urge to confront her about the noise, I focused on my water, taking a long sip to steady my nerves. Alexis continued to stand there, her posture relaxed, almost as if she was waiting for a reaction from me. She definitely won't be getting one so I decided to change the subject.

"Are you up early for something?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

She nodded, her smile turning into a knowing grin. "Just an early morning yoga session. It helps me stay centered."

Of course, yoga. The epitome of serenity and self-care. It was almost too perfect of an answer.

"That sounds nice," I replied, not wanting to engage further. I grabbed a piece of fruit from the counter, pretending to be engrossed in my pre-run routine.

She leaned against the kitchen island, her gaze lingering on me in a way that felt intrusive. "You should join sometime," she suggested casually. "It might help with your sleep."

I raised an eyebrow, not sure how to interpret her invitation. Was it genuine concern or another subtle jab? Either way,  I shouldn't make her any wiser.

"Sure that would be nice," I said, now focusing on finishing my fruit.

Just then, Jude walked in, his presence filling the room with a warmth that momentarily dispelled the awkward tension between Alexis and me. He looked between us, his brow furrowing slightly as he sensed the atmosphere.

"Morning, ladies," he greeted us with a smile, his voice breaking the uneasy silence.

"Morning, baby," Alexis replied sweetly, her tone light and unaffected.
