Let's Go
•••Despite denying the allegations three days ago my pages were still blowing up, all eyes were still on me.
My dm was filled with brand deals, partnerships and sponsorships. The aim was to get Alexis out of the picture, not grow my social media presence or become famous. My thoughts were disrupted by my phone ringing, it was my Dad. I thought for a moment, my shift just ended I wasn't sure if I could speak to him and still have a good rest of the day after.
I decided to ignore it, for my peace of mind. I quickly went downstairs to get a bottle of water. My phone rang again, I heard some footsteps based on the weight I could tell it was Jude. I answered the call putting it on speaker so I could multitask.
There goes my peace of mind. "The plan was to get you home not sending you running into the arms of some footballer!" He yelled.
"Dad it's-
"I don't even want to hear a word! You've always been the disgrace of this family. Why can't you just be normal?" He questioned but I knew better than to answer that. "Your sister is with the top doctor in the country, and you think a footballer who's probably done in a year is it?"
"You have ten days to stop this charade or whatever it is I'm seeing online and get home. I can set you up with a nice job at Google or Apple. If you're not home by then, don't even think of considering yourself family anymore or coming home" he said strongly.
"You're not even-
"Ten days!" He yelled then hung up.
I opened the bottle of water turning it to my head, before releasing a sigh. From the corner of my eyes I could see Jude, who I'm sure heard the conversation. After all, I knew that's what my dad was coming with and it wouldn't hurt me if he heard.
"Are you alright?" He asked, "I'm sorry I accidentally heard your dad just now"
"No it's okay, I'm okay" I smiled, "he's always been like this with me"
"He didn't even give you a chance to explain" he said a bit concerned.
"I've never really had a voice in my family" I said, and it was true my dad berated me every chance he got, growing up I wondered why did they have me if they were going to hate and treat me differently from my siblings. It did so much damage, no amount of therapy could fix.
"I'm really sorry to hear that" he said lowly, "I mean I caught a stray shot, done in a year is crazy" he laughed, "not to pry but are you going to go?"
"Feed into my dad's ultimatum?" I asked he shook his head saying yes. "That's the worst decision I could ever make, I'd be under his control again having to do the job he wants me to, dress the way he wants, eat what he thinks his right, date who he picks I can't sign away my happiness like that. So I guess no family for me"
"You have a family" Jude said I could see the sympathy in his eyes, "you have me, you have us. I'm happy you're standing on your own. I support you completely"
"Thanks" I said feeling comforted, he came over and gave me the warmest hug I've ever had. I almost didn't want to let go, it was the kind of hug that was so comforting it could heal me.
