Being there for someone when they're vulnerable is a delicate balance. It's supposed to be about offering genuine support and comfort without crossing boundaries or exploiting their emotions for personal gain.
When Jude found out about Alexis, I saw a side of him I hadn't seen before. His strong facade cracked, revealing a vulnerability that made him even more human, more relatable.
Part of me wanted to comfort him out of genuine care, but another part saw an opportunity—a way to strengthen our bond.
I was there day in and out being there to support him. Alexis was out of the picture and I felt on top of the world. The breakup was fast. No hesitation.
Each day as Jude poured out his heart to me, I listened intently. His pain was obvious, his confusion and hurt evident in every word.
In those moments, I found myself offering words of reassurance and comfort. I held his hand, offered a shoulder to cry on, and assured him that he wasn't alone. But in the back of my mind, I couldn't ignore the thought of how this was really deepening our connection.
Vulnerability has a way of forging bonds. When someone opens up to you in their weakest moments, it creates a sense of intimacy and trust that is hard to replicate in any other way.
I couldn't help but think about the importance of playing the right cards in situations like this. Vulnerability is powerful, and it can be a tool to strengthen relationships, but it must be handled delicately. Alexis had played her cards poorly.
She forced Jude to kick me out of the house, forgetting the image I've presented and the impression I've given to him and his family, she didn't consider how kind hearted they were, so of course Jude ensured I was okay because of her rash decision. Then on top of us becoming closer, I dropped her secret, which made him turn to me the one he was getting closer and closer to.
When I exposed Alexis, it wasn't just about revealing the truth. It was about showing Jude that I was someone he could trust, as crazy as it seemed. Also someone who had his best interests at heart. I would never use him for his wealth, I was madly inlove with him, I could care less.
And because of how comfortable he felt with me, he confided in me and sought refuge in my presence. He was broken, and I became the person he leaned on which was what I wanted because it's one big step closer.
One afternoon, as we sat in my living room, he turned to me with a serious expression. "I want to ask you something," he said, his voice hesitant.
"Of course, anything," I replied, curious about what was on his mind. He never brought up the kiss, neither did I, especially because of his reaction after and being too pushy could redefine everything in a way where he pulls away. That was too much of a risk so, it's back to the waiting game.
"I was wondering if you would like your job back," he said. "We never really found a replacement and it would be nice to have you back."
His offer caught me off guard. Alexis was out of the picture, and here Jude was, offering me a chance to return to a position that would put me back in close proximity to him. No! No! NO!
With her out, I was being everything he could need, why would he want me back as an employee and not more, it's really back to the waiting game.
"Are you sure?" I asked, wishing he would change his mind.
He nodded. "Yes, I'm sure. You've been here for me in ways I can't even begin to describe. I want you around. I need you around."
