All good things come to an end?
•••

All good things must come to an end, they say. I hated that saying. Whoever came up with it obviously wanted you to accept and patiently wait for a bad ending.

Whoever came out with that saying is such a loser. What if I didn't want the good things to end? What if I believed they could last forever if only I tried hard enough?

To me, the notion that good things must end felt like an excuse for complacency. But I refused to accept that. I believed that good things could endure if we cherished and nurtured them. It wasn't about denying reality but about shaping it with our actions and intentions.

Life is full of challenges, and it's true that nothing stays the same forever. But that doesn't mean that every good thing is doomed to a bad ending. It means we have to work harder to sustain the goodness, to adapt and evolve with the changes life throws at us. Good things don't end because they have to; they end because we let them slip away.

I thought about the many experiences I had in my life. Each of them required effort, commitment, and a willingness to fight against the currents of time and circumstance. Relationships, careers, passions—they all demanded attention and care. When we invest in these things, when we pour our love and energy into them, they grow and thrive. They become resilient against the forces that threaten to break them apart.

Of course, there are times when endings are unavoidable. People change, circumstances shift, and sometimes, despite our best efforts, things fall apart. But even then, it's not the goodness itself that ends; it transforms. It leaves behind memories, lessons, and a sense of fulfillment that becomes a part of us. The essence of those good things remains, influencing our future and shaping who we are.

In my own life, I had seen this play out time and again. When faced with difficulties, it was the commitment to maintaining the good that made all the difference. It was the choice to hold on, to fight for what mattered, that allowed the good things to persist. Even when things did come to an end, they paved the way for new beginnings, for fresh opportunities to create more good.

"Bianca, are you listening?" Jude said as he waved his hand, seated in his mom's office she had at his house.

"Sorry" I said focusing on him again.

"Yeah I was saying you accidentally butt dialed Jobe, a few days ago and he and my mother heard the conversation between you and Alexis. Firstly, I'm deeply sorry on behalf of her, I truly don't know what has gotten into her these past few days. My mom and I, and by extension Alexis have been talking about what to do and what's the best way forward and for a peaceful life, I think I'm going to have to relieve you of the position," he said softly.

All good things come to an end?

"There's no need to apologize" I said without making eye contact, "but I understand, Alexis is your fiancée, she's family if she doesn't want me around we all have to accept her feelings."

His brows furrowed as he looked at me, "I didn't want to do it, mom isn't happy about it but I just see this spiraling into something nasty"

"I get it" I nodded.

"Alexis maybe family, but you've grown on me, and mom she fancies you a lot. I haven't said anything to anyone but I want to help you. I'm trying to get your old apartment back, I'll cover it until you get something. You may not be living here but mom and I will be looking out for you" He said.

"No, you literally don't have to do that, I can't accept that" I said.

"It's the least we can do, you were doing an awesome job, and now we have to let you go for reasons that had nothing to do with your work ethic. Please let us" he said, it sounded like a nasty deal, but I was willing to take it as they were still in my back pocket.

"I don't know" I said hesitantly, "this is all so sudden, maybe it's best if I just go home and-

"'No" he said without giving me a chance to finish the sentence, "I can't have that actually."

"It's not easy making it on my own here, I fought for so long and I finally found something I was getting the hang off and now I have to go. I don't know, maybe they were right" I sighed, I honestly didn't know how to feel.

"They weren't, one of the many things I admire about you is that you stood up for yourself and you actually wanted to work for it instead of it being handed to you. You can't go, plus if you go that means I also won't be able to see you."

My heart almost exploded, "see me?"

"Just because you won't be living here, means I'm going to stop talking to you or see you as matter of fact." He said.

"I thought I was being banished, so I never thought you know" I laughed

"Nah, I get it but I'll see you. I'm going to miss my jogging partner" he said with a little smile.

"I mean you could always jog with Alexis" I said.

"Nah, she's full of shit" he laughed, "sorry too soon"

I was already red, I couldn't believe he said that I was laughing so hard.

"Well by Friday, everything should be finalized and I'll help you move." He said.

"I just want to say thanks for everything, I won't forget the kindness you and your mom has shown me" I smiled.

All good things come to an end? No, no quite.
