Jungkook listened, his gaze steady. The room felt smaller, the air thick with unspoken words. Taehyung's confession hung between them like a fragile thread.

"I tried," Taehyung said, his voice barely audible. "I tried to see you as more than a friend. But it's like looking at the sun. I can't without hurting myself."

Jungkook's fingers brushed Taehyung's, a silent promise. "It's okay," he whispered. "I'll still be here."

And in that moment, Taehyung realized. He might not have found love, but he had found something equally precious. Someone who would wait, who would stay, even when the sun burned too bright.

The realization hit Taehyung like a sudden storm. The kind that sweeps away illusions and leaves raw truth in its wake. Jungkook, his close and only friend, had found someone else. Someone who wasn't Taehyung.

He sat on the rooftop, the city lights below like distant constellations. The wind whispered secrets, and Taehyung listened. He remembered the moments. The late-night conversations, the shared laughter, the way Jungkook's eyes crinkled when he smiled. But he had never dared to see beyond friendship.

Now, as Jungkook's laughter echoed from the street below, Taehyung's heart clenched. He had been blind, chasing shadows while the sun stood right in front of him. Jungkook had been there all along, waiting for Taehyung to see.

But Taehyung had looked away, afraid of what he might find. Afraid of losing the friendship that had sustained him through storms and starless nights.

He stood, the rooftop's edge a precipice. Maybe it was too late. Maybe Jungkook's heart was already claimed. But Taehyung had to try. He had to leap, even if the fall shattered him.

And so here he is. With Jungkook. They were on a bridge as Taehyung confessed his mistake. Taehyung whispered, "Jungkook, I see you now." Jungkook listened intently as Taehyung's voice wavered. The rooftop breeze carried their words into the night, and the city below seemed to hold its breath.

"I see it now," Taehyung said, his gaze fixed on the distant horizon. "My mistake was not trying hard enough to see you as more than a friend."

Jungkook's heart skipped a beat. He had hoped for this moment, yet the ache of missed chances weighed heavy. "Tae," he whispered, "it's never too late."

Taehyung turned to him, eyes searching. "But you have someone else now."

Jungkook stepped closer, their breaths mingling. "She's not you," he confessed. "I've loved you all along."

And then, as if the universe held its breath, Taehyung reached for Jungkook's hand. Their fingers intertwined. A leap into uncharted waters. Maybe they were late bloomers, but their hearts were finally in sync.

The city lights blurred, and Taehyung whispered, "Thank you for waiting."

Jungkook smiled, the rooftop breeze carrying their shared promise. "Always, Tae. Always."

The days blurred into weeks, and Taehyung and Jungkook navigated their newfound closeness. They were late bloomers, their hearts unfolding like delicate petals in the warmth of shared laughter and stolen glances.

Jungkook's girlfriend, Sooyoung, remained a presence. A shadow in their story. Taehyung watched her from afar, wondering if she sensed the unspoken tension between them. She was kind, with eyes that held secrets. But Taehyung knew. He was the secret she couldn't see.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Taehyung found Jungkook waiting by the riverbank. The water shimmered, reflecting the sky's hues. Jungkook's guitar lay across his lap, its strings waiting for melodies.
