Two months had passed since that conversation, and Taehyung had been doing a lot of thinking. He didn't want to hold Jungkook back, didn't want him to feel like he was missing out because of him. So, for their six-month anniversary, Taehyung decided to surprise him with an exquisite dinner. He had spent hours researching recipes and practicing in the dorm's small kitchen, hoping to create something truly special.
The evening Jungkook was out for basketball practice, Taehyung had the room to himself. He carefully set the small round table with a white tablecloth and a bouquet of roses that he had picked from the university's garden, hoping to capture the essence of their first date. He had even bought some candles from a nearby store, the soft flickering light casting shadows on the walls.
As he stirred the pot on the stove, the aroma of the stew he had been simmering for hours filled the air. It was Jungkook's favorite, something he had learned from the countless nights they had spent watching movies and sharing stories about their childhoods. He hoped the gesture would show Jungkook just how much he had been thinking about their relationship and the future they could share together.
The door creaked open, and Jungkook's footsteps grew louder as he approached the kitchen, sweat glistening on his forehead from the intense practice. Taehyung's heart raced as he tried to act nonchalant, pretending to be engrossed in his cooking. Jungkook froze in the doorway, taking in the sight before him.
"Are my eyes deceiving me? Kim Taehyung? In the kitchen? Causing chaos?" Jungkook teased, a wide smile spreading across his face as he took in the sight of Taehyung, apron-clad and stirring a pot that bubbled over with an unidentifiable concoction.
Taehyung playfully glared over his shoulder. "You better watch it, or I'll feed this to you raw," he threatened, his voice light and filled with mirth. Jungkook chuckled, dropping his gym bag to the floor. He crossed the room and wrapped his arms around Taehyung's waist from behind, nuzzling into his neck.
"Mmm, it smells heavenly," Jungkook murmured, his breath hot against Taehyung's skin. "What's the occasion?"
Taehyung stopped mid-stir. "You forgot?" he asked, feigning disappointment. Jungkook's smile grew wider. "How could I forget our six-month anniversary?" he said, his voice filled with affection. "But you never cease to amaze me with your surprises."
Taehyung turned around in Jungkook's embrace, his cheeks a deeper shade of pink. "Well, I wanted to do something special for you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Jungkook leaned in, his nose brushing against Taehyung's.
"You do something special for me every day," Jungkook whispered back, his eyes filled with love. He kissed Taehyung gently, savoring the moment before pulling back. "Now, what's on the menu tonight?"
Taehyung's smile grew as he took Jungkook's hand, leading him to the bedroom. "You'll have to wait and see," he said, his voice playful. "But first, go shower. You're getting your sweat all over me."
Jungkook grinned, "Oh but you like me getting my sweat all over you," he teased, tugging at Taehyung's apron strings.
Taehyung rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress his own smile. "Just go," he said, swatting Jungkook's hand away playfully. Jungkook chuckled, releasing Taehyung before sauntering towards the bathroom. The sound of the shower running filled the room, and Taehyung took a moment to catch his breath. He had rehearsed this in his head countless times, but now that the moment was here, his nerves were getting the better of him.
With the water running in the background, Taehyung set the table, placing the stew in the center and arranging the side dishes meticulously around it. His thoughts swirled like the steam rising from the pot.
