Aayansh's Pov :

Returning from the gym, I walked into the hall where the staff wished me, and one of them aksed me about lunch. Before I could deny him, Dadi entered the picture asking him to send food to my room. She knew I didn't like to join the dining table most of the time. I couldn't help but realize how my family, despite my ignorance and isolated behaviour didn't leave me completely on myself, by undertaking some roles without interfering in my life.

"No one will say anything if you take your meals in your mousehole. You don't have to skip them, to avoid your own family." She said, maintaining her calm and authoritative demeanor. I could read her disappointment. It was not that she behaved like a principal dealing with a spoiled kid, she was just fond of her rules and authority, but she also cared for everyone. So I nodded my head without saying anything.

"What are you even doing to yourself, Aayansh? This loneliness is not going to get you anywhere."

I am doing enough for myself, and I have chosen this path myself. Please I don't want to get there. I wanted to say out loud to her, but nothing came out of my mouth. Her eyes reflected worry and care.

"Dadi, please–" I requested to her when she cut me in between.

"I am older than you, beta, and have seen more of the world than you. You know, you will regret not holding the things that held so much importance, once you lose them in your life." She continued, making me stare at her blankly.

"I met Jivika when I went to meet her Dadi. She was also saying that you troubled her in the cafe. Is it true?" Anger surged in me hearing her name and the complaint about me.

That stupid girl just fed a lie to Dadi. It was nothing new. She knew how to turn situations and people as she wanted. I don't know how she ends up getting in my way most of the times. Even in her absence, her mention comes for some or other reason, dragging my thoughts to her. It's like we get away only to somehow get back to each other. Why am I even getting there?

"I know what I am doing, Dadi. And why are asking me, when you already believe the outsiders enough over family?" I didn't intend to sound harsh, but it came out rude making me feel guilty.

"Oh really? Then please explain to us also, what you are doing other than displaying this shit behavior? What gives you the confidence that you can make distinction between family and outsiders?"

A voice came from behind, how would I not know who it was, but still I turned around to face him. Aviraj Bhaiya. I looked at his face, which showed nothing. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel contented to hear him speak to me after so long, even if he was reprimanding me. To be precise, he was taunting me.

"Now you both don't start." Dadi said with a sigh, getting only silence as answer from both ends.

"I am sorry." I don't know for whom I uttered, it slipped out of my mouth without any second thought. Not wanting to stretch the thing and be there any longer, I made my way to my room.
