Author's Pov:
Four days had passed since the night Aayansh was shot. The incident had left everyone shaken, but thankfully, he was on the road to recovery. Today, he was finally discharged from the hospital and back home, surrounded by his family who were waiting for his return.
Aayansh was laying on the bed, resting in his room. He closes his eyes and lets out a sigh, tired and bored of being in the same position for days. He hears the door open, and looks at doorway only to see Aviraj entering the room. He feels hesistant as well as surprised seeing him there.
In these four days, he was somewhere waiting for a glimpse of his brothers. He knew they must have made their presence known when he was asleep, but it hurt him thinking they didn't want to interact with him, not even to ask about his well-being, just for the sake of asking. The emptiness that settled back in left within him a hollow feeling and an unfillable void.
"Aviraj bhaiya," he pushes the blanket aside, and struggles to sit up with the support of his one hand.
"No need to–" Aviraj, who was looking at him with a serious face, tries to stop him, but it was of no use.
"Are you really here, bhaiya?" Aayansh whispers, as he takes seat in front of him. Hearing his innocent question, Aviraj slightly nods his head, while his eyes shine with unshed tears. Why did it feel like an eternity since they last talked?
"Don't think I am here to applaud you for the stunt you pulled. It was terrible of you to take that hit." Aviraj says, anger was evident on his features.
"What did you even thought before doing that? What if something had happened to you?" He further questions, raising his voice.
"It was you there, bhaiya. I know I hurted you, but I can't bear seeing you in pain. I would have even died with satisfaction if I had to do that to save you." Aayansh replies, his head hanging low, not having courage to meet eyes with his brother.
"I swear, I will beat you without mercy for speaking this nonsense." Aviraj scolds him, gripping his collar.
The mention of death brings back in his mind the fear of losing his brother, which he had felt the moment Aayansh closed his eyes in his arms. Only he knew how he had stopped himself from breaking that night.
"Then do it na. I promise, I won't run away. You can hit me, fight with me, punish me the way you want...but please, don't push me away." Aayansh utters, and crawls forward to reach Aviraj, wrapping his arms around him.
"I can't take this silence anymore...it's eating me inside, inch by inch...I feel suffocated." He says, locking his hands behind, afraid he might leave.
"Can you not forgive me once again like you always did when I made some mistake? I want my bhaiya back." He adds, a faint cry breaks from his throat, and his voice cracks towards the end.
