Author's Pov:
Jivika and Aayansh walk into the hallway, which was beaming with the pretty decor and fancy lights. The up beat music playing in the background gave chilling vibes, and there was crowd of people. Many of them were gossiping or enjoying their drinks, while others hitting the dance floor. Clubs and parties were never her things.
She takes a deep breath scanning the place and turns to look at him, who had his one hand placed on his chest, slightly rubbing the area over his heart, taking in the surroundings. He used to be life of such parties. Why did he looked so lost, didn't they excite him like before? A possibility lingers in her head but she dismiss that, calling it absurd.
"What happened?" She touches his arm, bringing him out of the trance.
"It's strange. Maybe I should have not come." He murmurs the second part to himself. Coming to a party after almost two years was his own decision and he had taken that without second thought, he realized that late.
"Are you okay, Aayansh?" She asks with concern, this time.
"I am all good. Let's go." He says covering up his reaction, letting himself free and she nods, though she was sure that something troubled him. Was it because of the past? If so, then why now?
They meet a group of their batchmates, with smiles and excitement, which was mostly fake, from her side at least. Heck, she didn't even remembered some of their's name.
"Okay, let us pretend that we never expected you both to come together." One of the girl, whose name was Kashika, says with a cheeky grin and the rest laugh, hearing her.
Aayansh shakes his head and Jivika controls herself from blushing, with all the eyes on them. It wasn't something unexpected to see the two inseparable best friends still together. While some felt jealous of the bond they shared, others admired their friendship. None of them was aware of the reality.
"Just tell us, your status is changed and you both are in relationship?" It was another girl, and everyone fix their sight of them with curiosity, making the environment awkward for them. Their eyes meet for a second to scrutinize each other's reaction. Not that they could say 'no, we are just friends'. They were not.
"Oh god, Naina. Forget them, but you are still the same, nosey. Leave that, it's their personal life." Rishab, one of the Aayansh's friend interferes, noticing their awkwardness and changes the topic. They both were thankful to him.
They talk to them for some time, reviving the old memories, but most of it included everyone boasting about their positions, ranks or the tours they did. After all, for most of the people, an achievement feels like one only when it is shown to the world with all the pride. It was not wrong at some point.
After a while, they spilt into different groups to meet others, with boys going to the bar to grab drinks and the girls heading to the lounge. Even though, Jivika wanted to go with him or make him stay by her side, she drops that idea, as that would end up with them being a gossip topic for everyone.
