Author's Pov :
"That's why you got the divorce papers prepared?" Aviraj asks, staring into her eyes and she feels taken aback with his question, which rather sounded like a statement. For an instant, she was shocked hearing about divorce papers from him. How did he knew about them, when she never mentioned them to him? Her hand resting in his, slips away and she turns her head to the other side in order to avoid his penetrating gaze, which spoke volumes to her. She could read the unvoiced questions in them and it made her feel like he was blaming her. But, was it true? And, does he even want to know something?
"You–" She tries to speak when the sound of the door knob makes her stop. A moment later, Dadi walks into their room and the look of worry forms on her face on seeing the bandage on her feet.
"What happened, Tarini? Staff told me that you came few hours back but didn't come out of your room. What is this? Aviraj, tell me if she is fine? Why are you both staring at me instead of answering?" She asks them without any pause, her tone indicating impatience till the end. The entire family needed a god-gift called patience.
"She is fine, Dadi. It is a minor injury, she will recover soon. Don't worry." Aviraj answers plainly, after composing himself.
"I have to go and meet someone. Take care of her." He adds, getting aside and giving way to Dadi to sit beside her.
"Your wife is not well, you should staying back with her. But, all you prioritize is your work." Dadi says, disappointed with his behaviour.
"It's important." He mutters, and picking up his mobile from the bed, he makes his way out.
Tarini glances at his leaving figure having mixed feelings in her heart. A part of her wanted to stop him but the other part reprimanded her for longing his presence. Though, Aviraj was aware of the gaze on him, he chose to ignore and not turn back. He wanted to stay beside her but he knew it would result only in things turning more complicated.
Dadi sighs noticing the complex relationship between her grandchildren. If one was adamant, the other was stubborn and no one was ready to make a move.
"He cares a lot for you. The way he looks and acts around you, says a lot about his feelings for you." Tarini reminds silent hearing her. Was it true? If it was, then, why couldn't she see or feel that?
"That's why everything else is more important to him, than me." She replies after a pause, sounding more hurt than bitter.
She knew he made an excuse to get away from her, it was always like that. He would have stayed by himself if he wanted the things between them to change. He only knew how to move back whenever they moved towards each other, taking the things back to the point from where they began. She was tired of this.
