Author's Pov:
Shirina taps her foot on ground impatiently, standing in the parking lot as the wind rustled her hair softly. The evening sky was growing dark, threatening the possibility of rain. She checks her phone for what felt like the hundredth time, waiting for her ride to arrive.
"Shirina."
Just as she looks up from the screen, a deep yet familiar voice cut through the wind and she turns to the owner of the voice. Abhyudit approaches her, his sight fixed on her intently. His broad shoulders and chiseled features made him stand out, even in the fading light.
"Is there any problem?" He asks, running a hand through his dark hair and she finds her gaze lingering on him. Their morning encounter flashes in her mind, when she abruptly looks away, shaking her head.
"I'm waiting for my cab. You don't have to bother." She says, her reply unwillingly comes out rude. He was the one to blame, according to her. Her inner voice reminds her to not cross the professional boundaries.
"I mean, do you want something, Sir?" She adds hastily, trying to cover up her previous rudeness.
Abhyudit, standing beside her, remains unfazed even after she nearly snaps at him. If anyone else made the same mistake, the outcome would be predictable. But it was his girl, the one who had captivated him long ago, rendering all rules irrelevant. Instead, he feels intrigued by this side of her. His kitten also had a tigress hidden within.
"I want to talk to you about what happened this morning." He tell her, without moving away or issuing another order, contrary to her expectations.
"I was stressed about some things, and out of nowhere, it all came out on you. I didn't mean to outburst." He continues, after a pause. His excuse makes no impact on her, but she could conclude he needs to learn how to own his mistakes.
"I understand. I was at fault, even if unintentional. It's okay, you can forget that." She says, fidgeting her fingers. Abhyudit bites back his smile, observing how she was assuring him along with making her anger evident, simultaneously.
"Still, I apologize for my behavior." He says with politeness, letting her know he was being genuine. Her eyes widens, feeling taken aback for a moment. Reason? Her not-so-rude and strict boss was apologizing to her for the first time.
"It's fine, really." Shirina reassures him, acknowledging his apology. A notification sound shifts her attention back to her phone, and she frowns as she reads the message.
"What happened?" He asks her, noticing her changed expression.
"My ride has been cancelled." She replies, her voice tinged with worry. A faint sense of panic creeps in, leaving her feeling alone and uncertain.
