THANDO
It's Sunday evening, and I'm done organizing my work for school tomorrow. As a pre-school teacher I pride myself in giving my all to those cute children, to me that means giving them a good education and always showing up prepared. It's around six-thirty pm and I just finished doing my pilates when I hear a knock on my door.
Huh? Who could possibly be looking for me on a Sunday evening?
I walk to the door opening it and nothing could of prepared me to see Matthew holding Trey on my doorstep looking dashing wearing his three piece black suit his hair neatly brushed back.
"Hi. I hope this is not the wrong time?" Matthew says as soon as I open the door.
Honestly I'm shocked to see him here after we almost kissed yesterday.
"Hi. Not at all. I just finished working out that's all." I tell him.
"Yeah I see." He says awkwardly. "I actually called you before coming over but your phone went to voicemail."
"Oh, yeah sorry about that." I say. "Please come in." I move over making space for him to get in.
"Hi little man." I greet Trey as we walk to the living room.
"Hi, Auntie Thando." He greets back smiling.
"Let me help with that." I tell Matthew as I take a bag from him that I'm assuming it's Treys and put it on my couch. I turn around catching Matthew staring at my ass and his cheek turn a shade of red when he sees that I caught him staring. He's eyes travel all over my body and even though I'm wearing my green yoga pants and sport bra with sweat dripping all over me I feel naked under his stare. I take a towel that is on floor next to my yoga mat and wipe myself staring right in his eyes.
"Umm.." He stutters averting his eyes then sit Trey on the couch. "I actually came over to ask if you can watch Trey for me for a few hours? The restaurant called, I'm kind of needed immediately."
Matthew owns several restaurants across the globe called Matthews but he's more hands on with the one here in LA. He's also a chef at his restaurant and I'm positive it's one of the reasons why his place is always buzzing with celebrities and the rich.
"Of course. My phone is upstairs that's why I couldn't answer." I explain.
"I called Kayla but she's not available but if it's too much trouble for you I can take him to my parents." He rumbles. For some reason I find his rumbling cute because most of the time he is very serious and knows exactly what to say.
"It's fine Matthew. I don't mind looking after Trey. Go to work." I dare touch his arm, the same electricity I felt yesterday shooting all over my body again. Can he feel it too?
"Alright then." He clears his throat then bends over talking to his son. He definitely have a good looking ass.
Can't believe I'm getting a Matthew Waters ass view at my house on a Sunday evening.
"Remember the rules, be good for Auntie Thando. Dad will be back hopefully not too late. I love you my boy." He says as he kisses Trey melting my heart.
Is there anything more sexier than a guy being a good father to his kids?
"I love you too Daddy." Trey says as he hugs Matthew.
"Okay buddy, see you soon."
Trey wave his goodbye to his father as he takes his phone playing with it. Matthew just stands there watching him with a sad look on his face.
"He will be fine. I promise to take good care of him." I assure him.
He frowns. "Thando, you're one of the few individuals I trust wholeheartedly with my son." He says watching me intensely.
My heart drums as something shift between us. For someone who doesn't let a lot of people around his son I'm humbled by his words.
"I just worry about him sometimes, I don't like leaving him behind especially this late."
"He'll be fine." I insist. Matthew Waters is a good father and I wonder if anyone told him that lately. "You're a good dad." I tell him just in case he haven't heard the words in a while.
His eyes hold mine for a minute. "Thank you for saying that and agreeing to this." He says as he looks at the watch on his wrist. "I better get going to save the day."
I nod as we both start walking towards the door. I touch the door handle the same time he does and our hands touch as we both stare at each other neither one of us moving.
WHAT IN THE WELL IS HAPPENED?
"I'll try getting home as early as I can." He whispers so low you'd think he's sharing a secret with me.
"Okay." I whisper back.
I see his hand making it's way to my face but then he stops himself stepping back breaking the spell between us and walks out without a word. I let out a breath of air I wasn't aware I was holding as I watch him descending the stairs instead of using an elevator. After he's no longer in my sight I close the door smiling to myself.
Matthew has never asked me to babysit before and I can't help hoping that means something. I mean he could have took Trey to his parents but instead he came over to my house. Before I get my hopes high I walk back to the room where Trey is still on the couch playing with his phone.
"Alright bud I don't know about you but I'm starving. Want to help me make something to eat?" I ask him as I ruffle his hair.
"Daddy already feed me."
"Oh, I guess since I'm the only one starving I better go to the kitchen and make myself some pizza then." I announce as I make my way to the kitchen.
"You know what? I'm hungry." He says as he put his phone on the table walking by my side. I laugh as I take his hand in mine.
"What topping are we putting on our pizza?"
"Umm." He taps his head thinking and I wait patiently as he decides. One thing being a pre-school teacher taught me over the years is patience. When you deal with kids everyday you have got to learn how to be patient.
"How about chicken and pineapple?" He ask clapping his hands proud of his suggestion.
"Chicken and pineapple it is." I tap his nose playfully. "Come on hop on my back."
Trey waste no time hopping on my back and I hold him tightly as I run to the kitchen making him giggle and laugh. I put him on the counter, open the fridge to take out all of our ingredients and put them in the table. After taking the flour we start on our dough and he listens attentively as I guide him step by step but I can't stop noticing how good he is at everything meaning he's used to doing all of this. After the dough is done we add our toppings with tons of cheese as per Treys request.
"You're very good at making pizza Trey. Here I thought I was going to teach you but you're the one teaching me instead." I praise him smiling.
He giggles. "Dad and I make our own pizzas every Friday's."
"No wonder you're this good." I tickle him making him laugh out loud and I join in. After I make sure everything is set in the over I put our pizza inside and turn my attention to Trey who's now looking sad.
"What's wrong bud?" I ask him worried also wondering what changed his mood so sudden.
"Promise not to tell Daddy?" He ask with so much vulnerability in his eyes.
"Pinky promise." I say as I lock our fingers.
He sighs. "I wish I had a mommy like you sometimes. All my friends have mommies and I'm the only one who doesn't have one." He says getting teary eyed and I can't help the tears building at the back of my eyes. I quickly wipe my eyes and his as well as I gather the right words to make this better for him.
"Oh baby boy. I know how unfair it may seem but I can promise you that you have the best parent ever. One that loves you enough for two people."
"I know some kids don't have parents at all and as my teacher says I'm lucky to have one but sometimes I can't help wishing I had a mommy." He tells me this crying.
"And that's perfectly okay. You don't have to feel guilty about how you feel. Have you talked to Dad about this?" I ask him as I shift closer to him wiping his tears that aren't stopping.
"Im scared, I don't want him to think he is not enough."
Oh my heart! How is a six year old so smart and emotionally intelligent so young? I need to talk to Matthew about this as soon as possible.
"You can always talk to your dad about anything, always. You can talk to him about this and I can assure you right now that he won't be mad." I tell him wanting him, no, needing him to understand that he can talk to his father about anything.
"Okay." He agrees softly. I wrap my arms around him and kiss his cheeks overwhelmed with emotions.
"Pizza is ready." He tells me as I pull from our hug.
"Right." I say as I move to the oven taking the pizza out. "What do you want to drink and watch while we eat?"
"Spider-man." He says. "Can I please have warm milk?"
"Of course you can." I tell him already pouring his milk. "Come on, let's go eat and watch your favorite movie." I say as I help him off the counter then take our pizza with us.
"This is good, we did really good with our pizza Trey." I tell him as I dish up for us then hand him his plate.
"I know." He smiles as we high five. "Can we leave some for Daddy?"
"Absolutely. I'll have a takeaway ready for him before he gets here."
I put on the movie and we sit silently enjoying our food. My phone which I went upstairs to fetch a while back buzzes next to me and I see a text from Matthew.
Matthew: Hey, just wanted to check up on you two.
I take a video of Trey eating while he's focusing on the movie and because I can't help it I show my legs that are on the table before I hit send with a text of my own.
Me: We're doing very well, thanks for checking.
I wait as the bubbles appear and within a second a text come through.
Matthew: I see both of you are really enjoying yourselves. Also you have beautiful legs by the way.
I chock on my juice as I read his text.
Is he flirting with me?
I mean I did send a picture of my legs for that reason.
"Are you fine?" Trey asks as he stares at me, concern all over his face.
"Yes love, I'm good." I smile at him.
"Just flirting with your father, it's all." My inner voice says and I almost laugh imagining Treys reaction if I actually said that.
Me: Thank you. What about you? Are you good?
My phone buzz and without waiting I open the text which shows a picture of him wearing his chef clothes with a piece sign.
Matthew: All good here.
Oh my God he is definitely flirting with me.
I chose not to reply in case I say something that will scare him off but rather stare at the photo he sent.
It has become pretty clear to me that Matthew Waters can rock any outfit.
I look at my side thinking I'll see a concentrating little guy but instead he is sleeping soundly.
That was fast.
I look at the clock by the wall and see that it's now twenty past eight. I move Trey in a comfortable position then put a blanket over him. I mute the volume and go wash the dishes. When more minutes pass by without any sign of Matthew I run upstairs to my room to take a quick shower. In record time I'm back downstairs drinking tea and reading a book on my phone.

I don't know how much more time passes as I read before a knock interrupts me. I look at the time one more time and see that it's now eleven. Only one person could be knocking on my door this time. My phone buzzes in my hands and I see a text from Matthew.
Matthew: Let me in, I'm at the door. No need to be scared, I'm freezing out here woman.
I chuckle at that also noticing that this is the first time he called me a woman instead of the little girl he probably seems me as.
Progress.
His boyish smirk is what welcomes me as I open the door enjoying the view in front of me.
It's rare to have such a view to myself so why not enjoy it while it last?
"Hi." I greet him acting unfazed when all I really want is jump over him.
"Hey." He greets back with that husky voice of his.
"Come on in." I move out of the door so he can get in but he stands still. "Well? Aren't you getting in?" I ask in confusion.
"After you." He tells me raising his eyebrow as if waiting for me to challenge him.
"Very well then." I tell him as I leave him standing at the door. I can definitely feel his eyes staring at my ass with how wobbly my legs are. I pass by the kitchen while he goes to the room taking the takeout that Trey asked me to pack for his father. When I get back to the living room I find him already with a sleeping Trey on his arms adjusting him properly. I take the blanket on the couch and put it over Trey's sleeping body while I also take Treys bag raising the takeout bag for him to see before putting it in the bag.
"Your little guy right there insisted we leave some of our food for you. Our pizza to be exact."
"Why do you say it like you didn't want to share your pizza with me?" He asks eyeing me.
I laugh at that because he got me. I don't like sharing my food.
"I don't play with my food." I tell him. "But like the kids say today, sharing is caring, right?"
He laughs at that before nodding. "I see you and my son had a blast without me."
"We certainly did."
"Thank you once again for today."
"You're welcome."
We walk to the door and I contemplate whether to tell him about mine and Treys conversation but decide now it's not the right time.
"Let me walk you down the garage." I offer as we stand by the door.
"Wearing that? No ways!" He growls and I swear I feel it all the way to my girl parts.
Help!!
I stare down at my pajamas and even though I'm wearing my short matching ones you'd swear by the look he's giving me I'm wearing short shorts or I'm naked.
"What's wrong with my pajamas?" I ask him looking at my clothes.
"You're practically naked and if you walk out there wearing that I'd have to beat anyone looking your way." He says locking eyes with me as if daring me to argue with him.
Why is it hot in here suddenly?
"People are sleeping." I tell him even though I no longer care about walking him downstairs.
"I don't care. Lock the door." He orders.
"You're very bossy." I tell him what me and my friends always tell him whenever he tells us what to do.
He says nothing just waiting on me to do as he says.
"Goodnight then." I tell him.
"Goodnight."
I take one last look at him before locking the door behind me leaving him standing. I find a white box on the table with a note that I didn't see before and curious to see what's inside, I open it as a delicious aroma hits me and I see a lasagna inside.
Yum!
I take the handwritten letter that could only belong to Matthew and read it.
Thando, thank you so much for today.
You have no idea how much you saved me. This is my little thank you gift, your favorite.
-Matthew
I die and come back to life when I read his note. Is this real life? I'm a sucker for hand written letters and lasagna. This man has no idea how much he's ruining or rather has ruined me for other guys. I'm smiling hard as I take my phone and text him.
Me: Thank you so much for my lasagna. You have no idea how happy I am because of your thoughtful gift.
I don't care whether I give myself, I'm happy and I want him to know he's the reason. I eat the lasagna, switch off the lights and get to bed after brushing my teeth. My phone buzz a few minutes later with a text from Matthew.
Matthew: You're welcome. Now go to bed, you have work tomorrow.
Me: You're very bossy, you know that?
Matthew: So I've been told a few times. followed by a smiley emoji.
Gah.
I charge my phone after setting an alarm for tomorrow then put it on the table by my side. I say a quick prayer, asking God that may Matthew see me as more that a sister and that what's happening between us be the start of something.
