MATTHEW
My whole body relaxes as soon as Thando runs to where Trey is.
Good God, I could kneel down and thank her right this second for being that caring and amazing.
I drag a fuming Miranda outside and close the door behind me and let her go immediately.
"You better explain to me right this moment who the fuck that woman is." She yells demanding answers as if I owe her one but I decided to give her one out of my goodwill.
I smirk. "That's my girlfriend. A woman you're nowhere half as."
Her mouth open in shock. "You.."
She starts to say but I'm done with this shit and frankly I got important matters to attend.
I cut her off. "This is you last warning and if you're smart you'll listen. Don't ever come near me or my family ever again or you'll regret it. You know better than anyone how I don't play with what is mine." I close the door in her face leaving her standing on my doorstep.
I rub my neck exhausted with how my day just begin but it better when I see my son laughing alongside my girlfriend both of them descending the stairs.
"Care to share the joke?" I ask them both the moment they see me.
"Nope."
"Uh uh dad."
I raise my eyebrow. "Oh, it's like that?"
"I made a promise to Auntie Thando that I won't say anything daddy, please don't make me."
I pretend to be sad. "Fine."
"But I can give you a hug."
"That I can work with."
I wrap my arms around his little body. "How did you sleep?"
"Like a baby."
Thando let's out a laugh and I join her.
I thought you're a baby yourself."
"I'm a big man now Daddy." He tells me as I sit him down on his chair by the counter.
"Tell him Auntie Thando."
"My Trey is a big man now Matthew." Thando tells me leaning by the counter watching us in amusement.
"Okay." I tell them then proceed to dish up for us the breakfast I was making before Miranda interrupted me.
We're all sitting down about to eat when my doorbell rings both Thando and I look at each other probably wondering if Miranda didn't go.
"I'll open it." I tell them walking to open the door. I expect to see my ex but find my stylist holding many bags of clothes.
"Good morning Matthew, I hope I'm not interrupting anything?" Katie greets me.
I take some of the bags from her. "No, please come in."
"I got everything you requested and more."
"Thank you Katie. I'm really sorry to bother you on a weekend."
"It's all good. You know I'm always up for extra cash." She winks at me playfully.
"Of course you are."
"Alright I've got to rush somewhere. Let me know if something is missing and I'll sort it out."
"I'm sure it's fine. Thank you again." I tell her as she excuse herself. I rejoin everyone in the kitchen and feel Thando's eyes on me.
"Katie brought the clothes." I tell her and she nods chewing.
"I thought we could do something exciting today. Maybe go to the movies and eat out later?" I suggest and Treys eyes light up in excitement.
"Yes, please."
After Thando insisted on washing the dishes and asking questions about Miranda which I answered and assuring her I'm truly fine we're both in my room as she looks at the clothes in the bag. I'm sitting on the bed enjoying the look of shock and excitement on her face as she looks at everything.
"You really didn't have to buy me designer clothes Matthew." She puts everything on top of the bed. "You literally bought more than needed."
I shrug. "You deserve only the best baby."
"This is everything. Your stylist literally bought me three Gucci woman suit for work!" She says in awe. "Not to mention two Miu Miu handbags, Versace dresses, Nike sneakers, Guess jeans, ysl jewelry, a full skin care products from Chanel and two heels from Amina Muaddi!!"
"You forgot to mention five pairs of sexy Victoria's Secret lingerie" I remind her as I wrap my hands around her waist and she giggles.
"This is too much. It must have cost you a fortune." Thando bites her manicured nail.
I laugh. "Baby, I'm a multimillionaire." I remind her. "Believe me I don't mind spending money on you. In fact this is nothing."
She scuffs. "Right."
"I'm serious. I'd spend millions on you without hesitation. You deserve trips all around the world and much more and I promise to give that to you one day." I tell her kissing her stomach.
"I'm not with you because of your money Matthew. Matter of fact shouldn't you be skeptical about spending your money on me after the whole Miranda thing?"
"Now who's comparing herself to my ex." I stand up walking to the bathroom to pee. I stand at the bathroom hurt by Thando's words and not a minute later she appears leaning by the door watching me.
"Are you angry?" She asks. "I just meant that I don't want you to spend your money on me in order for me to stay with you."
I flush the toilet, wash my hands as we stare at each other on the bathroom mirror.
"I know that." I tell her.
"Do you really?" She challenges.
I scoff annoyed. "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. I just want you to know that I'm with you because I want to be with you not because of what you can do for me."
Thando walks to me then turn me to look at her. "Do you understand?"
"You know, a thank you would be very much appreciated." I say as she wraps her hands around my neck staring at me.
She kiss me briefly. "Tell me you understand first."
"I understand." I tell her as her lips meet mine.
"Good but on a serious note, thank you for everything you just bought me and everything you do for me."
"You're welcome baby." I smile walking us back to the bedroom but Thando stands still.
"One more thing."
I raise my eyebrow. "What now?"
"Promise to never do materialistic things for me when we fight in order to win me back." She tells me seriously.
I look at her and in that moment I know with absolute certainty that I love her with everything in me even though it scares me to death.
"And how sure are you that I'll be at fault." I ask in amusement and she smiles her sexy smile.
"Well I'm a good girl after all."
"I promise." I tell her even though I don't half mean it. I mean if that is to ever happen I can't promise not to spend everything to win her back even if it means spending all of my money.
She's worth every dime and so much more.
She kiss me softly. "Thank you."
"You welcome baby."
"As much as I would like to sit here with you I have to go bake muffins for Trey."
"I'm tagging along." I lock our hands together.
"What for?"
"To admire your beauty while you baking obviously." I tell her as we walk to the kitchen where we find Trey waiting.
I sit by the counter watching my girlfriend teaching my son some basics. I just hope I won't allow my fears to win at the end because Thando really feels like home.
