CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

MATTHEW
The four of us walk out of the club silently and the moment we reach outside we're welcomed by two couple who are all over each other kissing and grinding shamelessly like they're not in public.
"At least some of us are getting some action tonight." Kayla comments making the girls giggle but I fail to find the joke my mind clouded with "what if's".
The moment I heard that coward talking to my girl inappropriately I wasted no time taking my keys and driving here like a madman.
"Come on, I'm taking all of you home." I tell them as I lead them to where my car is parked but of course my sister doesn't comply.
She sure knows how to infuriate me at times.
"What are you talking about?" She asks her hands on her hips. "None of us are going home. Can you drop us at Marvin's Strip Club instead?"
"Kayla for your sake I hope you're kidding because none of you are going to any club after what just happened. You're all going home and that's final." I tell her walking to my car while she's glaring at me fuming.
"You're exaggerating like always. You saw for yourself how good we handle the situation." She says rolling her eyes in drastically.
My jaw clench with how angry I am but I force myself to relax as I look at her. "And that's good but I think you've all had enough for today Kayla. What if something worse than this happens at Marvin's and I'm not there to protect you?" I ask reasoning with her and wanting her to see how serious this is.
"It won't." She argues impatiently and I'm about to tell her she's right when I see the jerk that I just beat the shit out being dragged outside cursing and threatening the guards and I feel my anger coming back all over again. I'm about to charge at him again when I feel warm familiar hands in mine squeezing and my eyes immediately find Thando who's shaking her head as her eyes plead with me not to go and I nod at her agreeing and she withdraws her hands which annoys me because I want nothing more in that moment than to claim her right here in front of everyone and let them know that no one messes with my girl and gets away with it.
"Get inside." I tell everyone as I open the door to my Bugatti. Both Thando and Jasmine get inside without a word and I wait patiently as my sister complain for a good minute before she joins her friends.
"Ugh, I can't believe that just happened. You owe all of us a night out Matthew." Kayla tells me the moment I get in my car and start driving.
"As long as I'm with you then it's a deal." I tell her as I take a look at Thando who's sitting quite in the backseat with Kayla and Jasmine.
"Thando?" I call her and her eyes finds mine in the mirror filled with so much nerves. "Are you okay?" I ask even though I know she isn't but needing to hear her voice.
"I'm okay." She answers but I know her well enough to know she's lying. I curse the fucker again in my head for instilling so much fear in my girl and promise to not let him go that easy.
"We're sleeping at your place tonight." Kayla tells Thando who looks at me in the mirror and I shake my head no signaling her not to agree to .
There's no way I'm letting her out of my sight after what just happened.
"There's really no need for that. I promise I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Jasmine asks and Thando nods. "I'm sure. You both saw how good I handled the situation in there. I promise, I'm truly fine." She tells them both and I feel my heart swell with pride of how well she truly did handle the situation in there.
"Okay, as long as you're sure." Kayla says then frowns as if she remembers something and says. "How did you know where we're at?" She asks eyeing me in the mirror completely catching me by surprise but good thing I'm a man who's always prepared.
"I was already at the club." I lie as I approach Jasmines street. "When I saw the whole thing happening."
"You? You want nothing to do with clubs. You hardly even frequent them." She eyes me suspiciously.
"Some guy I know asked me to join him and I couldn't say no. You know, favors and all that." I say stopping at Jasmines house.
"How come you didn't come and greet us the moment you saw us?" Kayla continues firing questions but I ignore her as I get out of the car and walk Jasmine to her door.
"Bye beauties. WhatsApp me when you arrive home." Jasmine tell her friends blowing kisses for me. After making sure she's inside safe I climb back inside my car and start driving to my sisters.
"Well?" Kayla questions the moment I take off without missing a beat.
Why does my sister have to be this observant all the time?
"I didn't want to ruin your night with my hovering." I answer her and watch as she nods unconvinced but grateful she doesn't say anything.

Five minute later we drop Kayla with a lot of promises which includes Thando to call her if she needs her. Before we leave my sister house I make sure that Thando joins me in the passenger seat after a lot of convincing as I drive us to my house.
"That's not the direction to my place." She states the obvious as she put her phone on her lap after texting someone.
"I know. You're spending the weekend at my house." I tell her holding my breath that she agrees.
"Are sure we're ready for that step? But more especially Trey?"
There she goes again securing her place in my heart unknowingly with her love for my son.
"Trey knows about us plus I'm sure he will be very happy to see you."
"I don't have any clothes to change."
"You can just walk around naked." I wink at her and she glares at me adorably managing to bring a smile on my face. "I'll have my stylist send some clothes for you tomorrow. Anything else?" I ask and she gives me her smile for the first time tonight.
"That's all."
"It's settled then." I tell her taking her hand in mine and kiss it grateful to be able to hold her freely. "How are you really feeling? And be honest." I say softly.
"I'll admit I was scared in there for a minute especially when that guy got uncontrollable but I'm really fine now. The moment I saw you I knew I was safe." She answers. "I knew my hero was about to protect me." Thando giggles sweetly.
"I'll always protect you baby." I vow meaning every word.
"Thank you."
We're both quite when she looks at me with eyes wide open. "Oh my god, where is Trey? Is he at your parents?" She ask worry all over her face.
I take her hand kissing it. "He's fine. He's with Thomas at the house."
"Oh, thank God." she says next to me then looks at me as if she wants to say something but stops herself.
"What?" I ask when I feel her eyes on me.
"Did you tell Thomas about us?"
"I haven't confirmed it yet but I'm sure he knows. He heard me yelling your name over and over on the phone when you hanged up and if not that it's definitely when I was cussing something along the lines of. "You better not mess with my girl motherfucker." I tell her and her eyes pop open in disbelief.
"You didn't say that Matthew Waters."
"I sure did. Don't ever hang up your phone on me when dealing with jerks like that. I need to always know you're safe baby."
"I really didn't think he was going to follow me to the dance floor." Thando says next to me in frustration.
"I know baby but some people just can't take no for an answer." I tell her what she already knows.
Some people won't stop until they have their way and unfortunately that's how it is in this world.
"I know. I just hope that won't ever happen again."
"It won't." I tell her as I drive us home.
