THANDO
I've always been a big believer in God and that every prayer I've prayed and still pray gets answered even if it's not immediately. I've spoke to God about Matthew for years and to finally have my prayers answered is such a overwhelming yet incredible feeling. I'll admit that I've dreamt about him sweeping me off my feet with romancing gestures and a lot of I love yous we're exchanged between us before we hit it off the bedroom but this is life and of course things don't always happen the way we want them to. They were moments I wanted to blurt out and confess my love to him but I had to hold myself as not to scare him away. While I've been in love with Matthew for years he's learning how to navigate this new relationship between us.
Relationship? Are we in a relationship though?
I don't know where exactly we stand.
Are we dating? Are we just fuck buddies?
Ugh stop. I mean he did say he's taking me out on a real date so that count for something, right?
"But what does that mean?" A part of me asks.
Honestly I don't know and I don't want to dwell much on it. For now I just want to take this day by day and see where it goes.
It's a beautiful windy Wednesday evening and I'm in my car driving to meet my friends on our favorite dinner spot. The girls have been calling and texting asking questions about my date which I've avoided but not for long because Jasmine texted insisting we meet for dinner tonight and well here I am. I've been trying to come up with a story to tell them since I left Matthew's house on Sunday but I haven't got one yet. My thoughts are interrupted when my phone rings automatically connecting to the car speaker and I see my mothers name popping up on the screen. I think about not answering but choose to answer otherwise she will call nonstop.
"Hey mom." I greet too cheerful even for my own ears.
"Don't hey mom me young lady. I've been trying to reach you for days." She answers clearly not impressed with me. "And don't you blame it on work." She tells me and I just know her finger is pointing to absolutely no one in room.
"I know and I'm sorry mom but well I've been busy."
"Nonsense. One is never too busy for family. This is not how I raised you Thando." She reprimands.
"I really am sorry mom. I was actually thinking about coming over next weekend for a visit but there you go ruining my surprise."
"Well I'm not sorry at all in fact it's good information because then I'll be cooking you your favorite dish." She tells me making my stomach growl at just the mention of a home cooked meal. Bless my mom for always cooking me my favorite dish whenever I visit.
"How are you?" I ask shifting the conversation.
"Fine darling. I just miss you."
"I miss you too mom. So much." I tell her as I arrive at the parking lot of the restaurant and park.
"It's a good thing you're coming over because I was about to drag you here myself. I just wanted to check up on you sweetheart and remind you of how much I love you." She says warming my heart.
"I love you too mom and I promise to do better with calling everyone. Where's Dad?"
"Oh you know your father, he's watching soccer and completely forgotten about my existence." I chuckle at that because nothing and no one can get between my dad and football.
"Please do remind him that he has a daughter that should come first and that loves him more that his sport." I say joking.
"I'll be sure to do that. Alright darling we will talk tomorrow. My favorite show is about to start."
"Thanks for calling mom, I love you."
"I love you too dear, can't wait to see you." She tell me then hangs up with saying goodbye.
I get out of the car then walk in the restaurant spotting Jasmines first with her curly hair she let loose tonight which is rare since she's insecure about her hair then Kayla's blond ones next to her. I walk towards our table greeting Jake the restaurant son owner as I pass him.
"Hello girls." I greet them as I sit down and their eyes immediately light up.
Oh! Oh! Here we go.
"Heya." They greet me together too delightful for my taste.
"Okay before you start firing off questions I'd actually like to order something to eat first." I say as I take a menu which is on the table and look for something appetizing to eat.
My friends wait patiently as I order my meal and they do the same while I take a sip of my lemon water which they've already ordered for me.
"Now tell us everything." Kayla says as she puts down her drink.
"You two are such bad friends honestly. You didn't even bother to ask about my day or even greet me for that matter." I joke.
"Please, we've already chatted today. Stop delaying the conversation and tell us about your date with Lucas." Jasmine says as she put her hands on the table giving me her full attention.
"Oh my God. Please tell me he has one hell of a long dick and he actually knows how to use it! Please say you went home with him Thando." Kayla says her eyes pleading with me as if to say exactly that but I got news for her.
"Actually no. We didn't even make it out of the restaurant together." I tell them as they both look at me with a WHAT THE HELL??!! look.
"Why the hell not?" Jasmine exclaims next to me.
"We both realized that we're better off as friends." I lie.
I don't like lying to my friends especially right now. This should be the day I tell them all about how Matthew's dick has me wet all day just thinking about him and how I'm looking forward to our date. But clearly today is not that day and I can't help wondering whether that day will ever come.
"Are you sad then?" Kayla asks as she watches me closely.
"I am sad but it's not because of Lucas it's because of how I can't share one of the important events that happened in my life this past weekend with you two." I want to say but instead say. "Not really." I say living it at that.
"That's a bummer then because I really was looking to one of us finally being in a stable relationship." Jasmine says.
"You both realize that we've never been in love love, right?" Kayla says pointing at Jasmine and me as if she just remembered something extremely important.
"Yep but all in good time love." I tell her not wanting to talk further about our love lives especially cause I'm keeping secrets from them.
"Anyways what's up with your lives. I feel like we're always talking about mine and never yours." My voice accuses even though I didn't mean to.
"I see what you're doing changing the topic but I'll let it slide for today." Kayla points at me. "Work is crazy right now. I'm currently dealing with a sixty year old client who is constantly changing the type of designs she wants for the house she's designing for her granddaughter." She huffs clearly fed up with the whole situation.
"Well one thing about you is that you'll get through it. You always find solutions and best ones at that. You're one of the best architectures in the world." I squeeze her hand showing her my support meaning every word. Kayla is one of the best Architecture around the world.
Kayla smiles nodding. "Thanks bestie."
"What about you best friend?" I ask Jasmine. Our waiter arrives with our food and we thank her as she puts them on the table. I waste no time digging in eating almost everything at once.
"I'm having a hard time writing this one book for some reasons. I can't seem to find the right words to start the chapter which is frustrating because I already know what I want the book to be about." She says as she chews on her steak.
"Is there anyway we can help?" I ask her.
"Not yet. I'm yet to try one last method then if it doesn't work I'll let you two know. Thanks for offering though."
"You're an amazing writer Jasmine. I've read all of your books and they're the best books I've ever read. This setback might be because it's preparing you for an incredible book you'll ever write. So don't push yourself too hard. Try taking it day by day. I promise, the right words will find their way to you." Kayla tells her.
"Kayla is right. In no time you'll be finishing your book and we will be celebrating." I add as out friend smiles at us wiping her teary eyes.
"Thank you guys for your endless support."
"Always." I say continuing with my dinner.

Four hours later I'm on my doorstep and I'm met with a bunch of Tulip bouquet with a little note on them.
Huh? Could it be Matthew?
My heart does a little dance with the thought of Matthew sending me flowers. I pick them up, open the door then put them on the kitchen counter wasting no time reading the letter. The letter is written in a very neatly handwriting which I could easily recognize anywhere.
Thando, ever since you left my house on
Sunday, I haven't been able to stop
thinking about you. I miss you baby
and I hope these flowers will bring you a
smile when they found you. Can't wait to
see you Saturday.
xo: yours Matthew.
Is this man trying to make me fall more in love with him? Because it's working although he didn't need to write me a hand written letter and send me flowers for that to happen since I'm already in love with him. I take out my phone texting him immediately.
Me: Hi. Thank you for the beautiful flowers. I love them. I miss you too and I can't wait to see you Saturday. Thank you for the heads up by the way.
After putting my flowers in a vase I walk upstairs into my closet then change into my pajamas. I brush my teeth, get to bed about to sleep when my phone beeps next to me.
Matthew: Hi gorgeous. Sorry for taking so long to reply I was tucking Trey to bed. I actually wanted to give you the flowers myself and see you but you where not around. I'm glad you like them though.
Me: I had dinner with the girls. If I knew you were coming I'd have waited a bit long to see you.
Matthew: I wanted to surprise you but next time. How was your day?
He said next time. Good God I can't wait to see him Saturday.
Me: It was long but fine. How was yours?
Matthew: Chaotic but manageable. Did you have a great time with Kayla and Jasmine?
Me: The best. Please kiss Trey goodnight for me I miss him.
Matthew: Will do a good morning kiss instead since he's already sleeping but I must admit I'm jealous...
Me: Why the jealousy Mr Waters?
Matthew: No goodnight kiss for me?
I chuckle at his text then decide to take a picture for him. I make sure my lace top is visible as I take a picture blowing him a kiss then send it.
Matthew: Fuck me woman. If Trey was not at home I'd be on my way to kiss those lips and rip off that lace top off of you immediately.
I blush at that loving this side of him.
Me: I guess next time Mr Waters. I'm off to bed. Goodnight.
Matthew: Best believe. Goodnight baby.
I choose not to reply scared I might actually suggest I sneak over to his house.
Okay I'm kidding. Not.
That night I dream of Matthew asking me to marry him and I obviously say yes.
