Quicksand Dungeon of Time Pt. 3
“H-Huh?” William looked at himself, touching his clothes and his face, then looked at his hands. “This is me…from eleven years ago.”
“What?! You reverted back to your younger self? How is that possible? Where’s your other clothes?”
William exhaled. “I don't know how it happened. I fell down from a hole and then somehow, I went back to my Grey Deer self.”
Solene stared at him in awe. So that's what he looked like when he was younger, when he was still a new Magic Knight.
“We don't know what's going on with this dungeon, but we should find a way to get you back to your normal age. Plus, what if the same thing happens to me? I can't get younger!” She said, just as the hallway changed to a different place, then went back again.
When it went back, Solene’s field of view somehow became shorter, as young William now stood tall over her. She tried to walk, but her bones ached everywhere—especially the back. Why was her body so weak?
“My body hurts…” She said in a waverly, shaky voice. She covered her mouth at the sound, feeling wrinkles on her face.
“Solene! You…” William’s eyes widened as Solene looked at her hands.
She summoned her phoenix, looking at her reflection from the flame-like hologram. She screamed with her weak, shaky voice upon seeing her face. “I'm a grandma now!”
She brushed her hair tightly, getting terrified even more when some of her hair detached, and became white. “W-What is going on?! How come I suddenly got transported to my village as if we went to different places at different times and now you're young and now I'm old?!”
A loud, high-pitched laugh echoed in the hallway. “You must be perplexed. This place is called the Quicksand Dungeon of Time, where every timeline coexists and transcends—where everything is real at the same it's not real. To stop this madness, you must come and find me. But until then, you will never get out of this.”
William shook his head. “Perpetua is playing with our minds. It must be the power of the magic item she is holding. I assume it has the ability to manipulate time and space here in the dungeon, and it's somewhat connected to us.”
“You're right. The rooms are changing, and when I went inside one, I got to Arandom Village back when it was under attack by bandits.”
“And I went back to my office at the headquarters and at the royal capital.” Although both scenarios didn't ever happen in his life. He recalled the dream-like vision of the Spade Kingdom man killing Alecdora, then he became alive and William suddenly was declared Wizard King. What was that about? “I'm sure that part wasn't real. She did say that everything is real and not real at the same time. For now, we should stick together so we wouldn't get separated by Perpetua again.”
