The Grimstone Tower Pt. 2

Home is behind
The world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow
To the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow
Cloud and shade
All shall fade
All shall... Fade.

SOLENE was terrified deep inside.

Her facade earlier towards William slowly broke down as the four fairest women of the Golden Dawn approached the mist barrier to the Grimstone Tower, behind them whose lead was taken by Sophia; walking like a professional model with her gown.

Letoile and Mimosa didn't follow what she was doing and instead just walked with their heads high. Meanwhile, Solene tried her best by swaying her hair to the left-subtle, Sophia reminded her earlier, so the men wouldn't notice that she was flirting with them. Then she tilted her head close to her shoulder, feeling the weight of her hair dropping to that side as she walked seductively.

"What is she doing?" Klaus asked as he peeked from his binoculars. "She looks like she's got stiff-neck. Is her shoulder itchy? Why does it seem like she's trying to scratch it with her head?"

"Letoile isn't even trying." David chuckled, holding a binocular of his own too. "A-And Mimosa." He quickly added, stammering. "They're just walking, but gracefully."

"Silence, you two." William said, taking Klaus' binoculars with a bit of force. "We have to realize the weight of the situation. Once they get inside the mist barrier, we won't see them again, so we have to be prepared." He took one last look at Solene with worried eyes.

"Halt, Sophia." Solene told her, stopping as she looked at the grayish mist that loomed over them. "Take one more step, and we're going inside."

Sophia took her deepest breath. "Goodbye real world, I guess."

"Guards!" A deep voice yelled on top of the stone walls upon their arrival. "Someone has breached the barrier! Mortals they are!"

Solene could hear the rapid drumming of her chest. It felt like rats were gnawing at it, desperate to get out. Her breaths grew heavy and fast, the ground beneath her softening and shaking. Where was the confidence she had when she was facing William? Why did she even volunteer, and even brought her friends to the face of danger, when she stood behind them-shuddering?

The thick black gates opened, its sound sending vibrations on the ground. Three men walked from it towards them, armed with bow and arrows. The man in the middle stepped in, pulling out his hood; and here showed a rusty-looking man, plenty of scars etched on his face like he had seen the battlefield every day. He stared at them with dark ominous eyes, making them think if they could seduce such men.
