Damsel in Distress Pt. 3
A/N: And why would I give you Yuno vs Perpetua early? Go suffer. Just kidding! Anyway, first enjoy our Golden Dawn members, who deserve some page time, who fight to rescue the damsel! Sit back, Solene (and William), for I didn't also expect that this arc would be long because I decided to throw in fight scenes!
The Frost Queen & The Cardinal Sorceress
THE CEILING OPENED, dropping the ice magic user from above. She screamed as she fell to the ground, hearing her bones cracking and feeling her body aching all over.
“Why do I keep falling from above?!”
The ceiling cracked open again, Letoile falling from it this time. Sophia created a spiral slide made of ice, helping the compass magic user to get down safely; careful not to let her meet the same fate as Sophia.
“Sophia? Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be with Captain Vangeance?” She asked.
“Yeah, until the fortress suddenly started moving like a damn maze and the ground opening beneath me!” She heaved out an exasperated sigh. “Weren't you with Yuno as well?”
“We were fighting the Forsythes when the room suddenly shifted, the same as you.”
“Everyone, can you hear me?” William’s voice buzzed on their communication devices. “This is the power of an ancient magic item harnessed by Perpetua Forsythe, whom Solene and I battled at the Quicksand Dungeon. She can manipulate the space in this fortress, so be careful! Try to find each other and regroup.”
Letoile and Sophia looked at each other. The green-haired lady was already thinking of ways to regroup with others, scanning her surroundings.
“Finally! This is what I'm talking about!” Sophia said, puffs of ice emanating around her. “I finally get to have first-hand experience of the Quicksand Dungeon! Man, I wish Perpetua is having the time of her life right now, I bet she's having fun rotating the walls around Alecdora-san so he would now know what Solene experienced last time!”
“This is really not the time for some balderdash jokes, Sophia. We are greatly outnumbered, and we don't know what the enemy is planning.” Letoile reminded her, bringing out her grimoire.
“Oh I know fully well what they're trying to do, Letoile-san. They're trying to fend us off, distracting and stopping us from saving Solene.” She grinned, but deep inside her mind was brimming with concern for Solene and her other comrades.
“You certainly got that right!” A jolly, feminine voice snickered behind them. There stood a hooded cloaked figure, small in stature. Her eyes were dark red like blood spoiled, hiding behind her eyeglasses that was.
