Chapter XIV: The Beauty and The Beast



"Every beauty needs her beast to protect her from everything but him."

"YOU..." William said. "You're Langris's older brother from the Black Bulls, right?"

"That's right. I'm Finral Roulacase." He saluted to the masked captain, giving an invitation to William. "Yami-san sent me to give you a message regarding his wedding tomorrow."

"Wedding?" His eyes widened. "Yami's getting married tomorrow? Why so sudden? And to whom?"

William actually knew who it could possibly be... but everything was happening so fast. Was Yami the type to get married like that? He figured it wouldn't even cross his mind to date.

"Honestly, even I thought everything happened quickly. Apparently, he and Captain Charlotte had been dating some time after the Elves Incident. It was also a surprise to the whole Black Bulls when Yami-san told us about it. He said the captain of the Blue Rose Knights confessed first." Finral chuckled, his voice a bit awkward as he touched his nape.

A tiny grin appeared on William's lips as he read the invitation. "I've always thought there was something going on with those two. Lately, they were always late for the captains' meeting. I noticed Charlotte's unusual and unique attitude towards him... but I never foresaw the day where they could actually be together... at least this early."

"A wedding between the Captain of the Black Bulls and the Captain of the Blue Rose Knights?!" Solene intervened, her eyes sparkling. "That's wonderful! I wonder how beautiful the wedding will be? Oh, how much I love celebrations! Captain Charlotte and Captain Yami are perfect for each other, they're like Beauty and the Beast!"

Finral blinked at her for a second before rushing to her, grabbing her hands. Solene was taken aback by the Black Bulls member's action, her eyes widened.

"My, my! What a beautiful maiden you are! I'm Finral! What's your name, pretty one?"

"T-Thank you!" Solene's cheeks flushed. "I'm Solene Amberdawn."

"A wonderful name for a wonderful person. Say, do you want to maybe grab some tea with me later?"

Solene broke a sweat. What's up with this guy?

"I believe Solene has business with me later; hence, she will decline." William interjected upon Finral's face, flashing him a smile so forced it sent shivers down his spine. His smile emitted a silent signal so ominous it made Finral step back, reminding himself not to mess with the captain of the best squad. "Where is it going to be held?"

"O-Oh, right. Yami-san said the wedding will be in the castle where the decoration ceremony is held. The reception is at the royal banquet place. The thing is... Yami-san and Captain Charlotte want to make the wedding as private as possible, so only a few guests will be invited. They also won't announce their marriage publicly—at least, not at this moment."

"I'm sure the people will be surprised, but I know they'll support it!" Solene said, turning to William. "Then, Lord William, you should shop for clothes you'll be wearing tomorrow!"

"Ooooh!" Finral slid towards her again, his eyes sparkling again. "You should totally come to the wedding tomorrow, Solene-san! I'm sure Yami-san wouldn't mind! Plus, you're with Captain Vangeance too, right?"

"Me? Is it really alright?" She looked at Finral and William back and forth, who were both nodding at her. "Well, I would love to come!"

Finral also said that Yuno and Mimosa were invited as well. Before he left, he told William that he was going to be Yami's Best Man for the wedding, who should be the one closest to the groom, whether it was his family or a best friend.
