Riley was terrified another phone call was going to come through. She hadn't changed her number at all no matter how much Max was telling her to. It just didn't feel like it got leaked, if it did, multiple calls would've been made already. Max was helping Daniel and Riley move into their new place. Riley got the majority of the small boxes moved in already. Anything and all things she could fit into her car got moved. Things such as dressers, beds, tables all got packed into a moving truck.
Max was helping Riley set up a new bed frame she got. She decided to get a new bed and set of blankets all together. She didn't want any trace of Arthur in her room. The new house was an Arthur and Charles free zone. Neither of them were allowed over. It took some convincing with Daniel, he didn't think it was fair to give Charles the same treatment as Arthur. But Max agreed with Riley. The house was supposed to be Leclerc free.
"Max do you know where the other screw is?" Riley asked him, moving around a few boxes for a missing screw.
"I lost it" He told her, "You'll be fine without it"
"But if this was a child's crib it would not!" Riley exclaimed with a laugh.
"Good thing it's not a baby crib" He said dryly, making Riley frown slightly.
"Max give me some time, we don't need to rush this"
"Riley it's fine" Max said with an uneasy laugh, "I'm just trying to put this shit together" He said, putting another piece of her bed frame together.
Riley looked at Max from across the room unsure of how much he actually meant it. She sighed to herself, unpacking more of her clothes and putting it in her dresser. Riley felt Max's eyes on her when she was trying to put clothes away. She smiled to herself, glancing over her shoulder, watching as he grew flustered and tried busying himself with something.
"We can get your mattress from the hallway" Max told her, "When your done"
"Did you want to test it after?" Riley asked playfully, turning to walk out of the room.
"Um I-"
"I'm joking" She cut him off, walking out of her room.
"It was a lousy joke" Max told her, following Riley out of her room to grab one side of the mattress.
"Riley!" Daniel shouted from the front door. Nicolas and Jade were following in behind him, inviting themselves over to help Riley. Jade hadn't realized Max would be there, otherwise she would've told Nic they shouldn't go. "Where should we put your piano?"
"I can fit it in my room" Riley told him loudly. Riley looked over her shoulder, seeing Daniel and Nicolas lifting her piano up and carrying it inside.
"Does anyone want coffee?" Jade asked, carrying a cup holder of four different coffees. She started heading towards Riley's room, flashing Max a small smile in the process.
"What kind did you get?" Riley asked Jade when she walked past.
"I got you black" Jade told her, "That's what Nic said you get, but I thought you've been drinking cream and sugar so I have another one of those just in case" Jade started rambling on, "I didn't realize Max would be here so it's a good thing"
"Thank you" Riley said when Jade disappeared into her room.
"I'll set it on your dresser!" She yelled from inside. Max looked at Riley slightly annoyed. He couldn't stand Jade, niether could Daniel or Lando. Riley was set on keeping her around though, she enjoyed the company and they found themselves getting along quite well.
"Do you need help" Nic asked Riley right before she was about to lift her mattress with Max.
"No we got it" Riley told him. Max and jealousy went hand in hand. It was a big thing in their relationship the year prior, boundaries. Which her and Nicolas had never crossed. Riley was never able to get that close with a guy after dating Max, it stuck with her. Besides Lando, but they both knew they were strictly friends.
