Riley and Max were in the JC's parking lot after a long day. Riley didn't expect this trip back home to be good. But she didn't expect it to be complete shit. She felt bad that Max had been around the family drama. Especially after he had just lost his home race. They were going to fly out together Wednesday morning to head straight to Monza together for his next race. Then, if things went well, there was a chance Riley would stay with Max again, or- Max would stay at her house.
After what had happened between them, Riley would prefer the second option if anything.
"It's so busy" Riley mumbled, the numbers reflected that. There was never not a customer in Jimmy'z.
"We can go if you want" Max stopped walking in the middle of the parking lot, keeping her hand in his.
"Nope" She said, dragging Max forwards with her, "I have things to do and so do you"
"I didn't agree to doing anything by tonight" Max said, leaning into her cheek with his lips. "You can't make me work illegally"
"You do it willingly" Riley nudged him away from her gently when he kept pressing his lips against her skin, she didn't mind it, but she'd rather it not happen in-front of a building that held at least 50 formula one fans inside. "Max I don't want people to see-"
"I'm done" He pulled away after getting her lips once. "I think we're late" He checked the non-existent watch on his wrist.
"I'm working on my own schedule" She told him, walking into the sidewalk with him quickly.
"Where do you want me tonight"
"Where do I want you..." She hummed, looking in the parking lot, "I have two different answers but preferably behind the bar"
"What's the other option?" He asked her quietly, listening to Riley giggle, her eyes said it all.
"It was a joke" She told him, "I was joking"
"I can stay behind the bar then" He said, letting Riley walk in front of him as his mind pondered the image Riley planted in his head.
"Max does he have to follow me everywhere" Riley saw Gustav drive into the parking lot, "I mean since we knew it was Noah there's no point..."
"I'd still feel better if he was around" Max looked in the same direction she was, "I know I haven't spoken out publicly about the death threats, but I see them Riley"
"I know" She sighed, "I probably shouldn't have brought that up amidst an argument" She opened up the front door while motioning Gustav to come inside too.
"I think we both said a lot of things we shouldn't have" Max walked into the restaurant behind her, walking through another set of doors with her. "I shouldn't have thrown you out the door"
"It was for the best" She told him quietly, feeling eyes on them immediately. "I would've rather maybe that we didn't go on break but, it was definitely necessary with what happened"
"Riles" Max stopped her before they walked past the hostess stand, "You know I am sorry right?"
"Yeah Max," She nodded, looking up at him, "I know"
"I'm going to make it up to you" He told her, "I promise"
"I know you will-"
"Do you guys have a table preference?" One of Riley's employees asked, they were new and had no clue who she was. She started picking up two menus, preparing to find a table for the two of them.
"Uh-" Riley looked at her, then to Tristen who was muffling his laugh as he walked past her. "We're alright," She said, glancing to her name tag, "Macy, thank you though"
