Riley and Max stayed on the boat until the sun was set completely. They went for a swim at one point, getting off the champagne they sprayed. They were both exhausted and planned on doing nothing be sleeping that night. They were about 15 minutes away from Riley's house, driving through town talking about their plans for the next day. They wouldn't be able to go out much with Griffin. Riley didn't know how Misty would feel if someone took pictures from afar with him in the shot, so she was going to try and stay away from finding out.It was nearly midnight. The day was almost up. Riley almost made it through without having any hiccups. Without there being a single thought of Jonah crossing her mind. She was beyond happy, and she was happy with Max. That's all she wanted right now, she didn't need gifts, Riley didn't need the extravagance he provided her.
Just him.
"Keep your eyes on the road lover boy" Riley laughed when Max glanced over at her. She held his hand and leaned against the arm rest feeling as if she could fall asleep at any moment.
"Don't tell me how to drive" Max looked at the road, coming to a slow down as the light went from green to yellow. A few cars managed to pass through beside the one directly in-front of them.
"You don't drive a lot in America" Riley threw her hand that wasn't in Max's up when he came to a complete stop.
"You don't anymore either" He pointed out, waiting for the light to change green. There was no one behind them for a moment, no signs of anyone coming up.
Everything was calm.
"Well why would I drive when I have a professional with me at all times" She emphasized, looking from Max to the car ahead of them. She smiled to herself when Max's thumb rubbed against her hand.
That was before a car slammed into them from behind. The entire Aston Martin was lunged forward, hitting the car ahead of them and pushing it into intersection. Only for that car to get smacked from another in incoming traffic.
The seatbelts kept Max and Riley from slamming into the windshield. Which wouldn't have been the case 5 minutes ago when Riley dropped her phone and unbuckled to grab it. They were both silent for a moment after they were pulled back into their seats. Riley's eyes were wide and her breaths were heavy as she looked at the accident in front of her in the intersection.
One driver caused a large collision when everyone else was at a complete stop. One driver ruined the end of Riley's entire night. One driver scared the living shit out of Riley for the few seconds everything around her was moving.
"Are you alright" Max asked, unhooking his seatbelt to get out of the car.
"I'm fine" Riley nodded, feeling tears in her eyes when Jonah popped up in her mind for the first time that day. Someone in the intersection started getting out of their car, hurrying to check on the person they rammed into.
"Stay here" Max told Riley, grunting when he opened the door and got out of the car.
"Babe" Riley unhooked when Max got out. "Should I call or do you want to"
"You call, I'm checking on the dumbasses behind us" He told her, keeping the door open in case she needed him.
Riley sighed, turning off the music that was still playing. She dialed 9-1-1 and got on the phone, doing all she could until they got here. She planned on asking for an ambulance too, not for her or Max but whomever was in the intersection. They hadn't gotten out of the car yet, and the person that checked on them was pacing frantically.
Max walked up to the large and raised black pick up truck behind them. He glanced at his car that Riley was still inside, seeing that it was entirely recked. Luckily insurance would cover it, even if it didn't, he could handle it. Or sue, but when Red Bull was notified about this that might happen anyways.
