Present time
"Are you sure you'd rather not be going out with Charles or someone" Riley asked Max at 4am Friday morning her time, and 8pm Thursday night in Mexico, Max's time.
Riley called him as they had previously planned, but it was supposed to be short, not over an hour long. She ended up with her phone perched up on her piano stand, writing music for the FIA ceremony while Max listen. Surely he was bored. That's what Riley thought.
"No keep playing for me" Max mumbled, sitting on the bed in his hotel room.
"Well I'm playing for myself right now" Riley said, "I have barley two months to have over an hours worth of music written" She chuckled softly, glancing at her phone when she went for the pencil and sheet music she had next to it.
"I do wish you played for me more often" Max told her, shuffling in the blankets.
"I'll play for you in Charleston" She smiled, pressing a key once to confirm the note she needed. "If you'd like"
"Sure" Max said softly, watching Riley's every move. "I feel bad for keeping you up right now"
"Don't" Riley said, "I would've gotten up in an hour or so anyways"
"Pregnancy insomnia?"
"Mhm" She nodded, "I also just have a lot planned today" She told him, writing a note on her paper. "Danny's making me take photos in his brands clothes, and I have to pick up the dining room table downtown" She started explaining, putting her sheet music back where she got it. "And then I think Jade's wanting to go to Amber's Lounge"
"Hmph" Max hummed, switching the hand he was holding the phone in.
"What" Riley looked at him, "What"
"I just realized what I'm missing out on right now" He said, "You should've stayed with me"
"Maybe if the media settles I'll be able to attend the next few races after Brazil" She mumbled, grabbing her phone and getting off her piano bench. "I really don't want to be in the public eye before the trial though"
"You've been in the public eye the past few months with the trial coming up"
"Yeah I know.." She said, turning around the corner of the couch before plopping down. "It's just different now" She sighed, holding the phone up, flashing the couch to the camera. "Do you like the couch?"
"Yes, I picked that couch out-" Max cut himself off while Riley was changing the subject. "How is it different now"
"Well the entire world thinks I planned my exes death then framed a guy for it" Riley said, but she was scared of Noah right now. "And I know Noah has a close eye on me right now"
"That's why we have Gustav"
"Max I just don't feel safe knowing he's watching" She told him, biting her thumb nail, looking to the corner of the room by the fire place. "Babe, we should get a Christmas tree and put it in the corner" She flipped the camera and pointed it in the direction. "Hmm?"
"Why do you keep changing the subject" Max asked her, watching the frame show her again. "Noah isn't going to do anything"
"Max he's psychotic" She said, grabbing a blanket off the couch cushions. "I don't want to go again until he's locked up"
