On the way to Sunyshore city, the gang stumbles upon a battle going on in middle or the park, with towns people watching it.
Surprisingly, one of the people battling was Barry, who ordered Empoleon to use metal claw on the opponent's mothim to win.
The people watching started to clap for Barry.

"Thanks, that's really nice of you to cheer us on. And please cheer for mothim, it battled hard too!" That's when Barry spots the gang, "Hey, that's Y/N!"
"Hi Barry!" You wave, "row!"

Barry leads everyone under a tree, where everyone can talk peacefully.
"So how many ribbons you now got Dawn?"
"Five!" She proudly says and sticks out her badge case.
"Hey, five ribbons, that's impressive!" He then turns to Ash, "so Ash, what's the deal with Gible's Draco Meteor? All set?"
"Well, the truth is, it's been kinda rough" He admits
"Bummer, too bad" Barry frowns, "so that means you haven't won your eighth badge yet?"
"No but we're heading to Sunyshore Gym now"
"Sunyshore Gym?" Barry starts to laugh
"What's so funny about that?" Arlo asks
"Here's the deal, for your information, I already beat the Sunyshore gym!" He says, showing all his eight badges.
"No way you already have all eight badges!" You gasp

"Uhh aside that- Y/N how're you now?" He asks
"Oh I'm fine! Look! All fit!" You grin
"That's great! And what about it?"
"It? Ohhh Cynthia took the ball away and is doing some sort of research with Professor Rowan before keeping it safe somewhere"
"Ah I get it"

After bickering, Barry asks while walking down the road if everyone wants to go to the pokemon center, for some munchies and everyone agrees.
Nurse Joy welcomes everyone and while the gang was busy taking out their pokeball, Dawn notices Paul.
"Hey, Ash, Y/N, look it's Paul" She whispers, pointing at Paul who was getting ready to leave.
"Its Paul! What do you know!" Barry exclaims, finally able to see him from so close, "Hi! Your name's Paul, right?"
"Yes" He simply says, in his rude tone.
"About time we met! I'm Barry, from Twinleaf Town. I'm gonna complete in the Sinnoh League and I've already gotten badge number eight! What do you say we have a pokémon battle, right this second?"
"Thanks but no thanks" He replies and starts to walks away
"Hey! What's with you?" Barry asks and stops Paul by blocking his way, "Then i guess I'm gonna have to fine you for blowing me off. "The word on the street is you've raised some powerful pokémon, so a battle'd be great!"
"The pokémon i have with me are the ones training for Sinnoh League, I don't want them engaged in a pointless battle, that might confuse them"
"Don't sweat it, your pokémons'll get into primo shape if you all have a battle against us. We're really strong— c'mon, what do you say?"
"I think you should have a battle with him or her" Paul suggests, glancing back at you for a second.
"I wanna battle strength like mine, Ash and Y/N got only seven badges, they're just not on our levels, you know" Barry says, making you slightly mad, but the gang quickly cools you down before you can yell at Barry.

Paul then looks back at Ash.
"Wow, Paul. So you've got all eight badges, don't ya? Saw you on tv." Ash politely says, but Paul doesn't responds.
Barry suddenly comes next to you and Dawn like a cartoon, "Hey, Y/N, Dawn, some stress."
You and Dawn look at each other with a tired smile, "Well, they've been through a lot." You reply to Barry.

"I'll catch up to you in no time. I'll win my eighth badge st the Sunyshore Gym." Ash says, "and Y/N will too, of course" He smiles back at you, while you return him a smile as well, making Barry pout slightly.
Paul angrily turns to face Ash properly, "Sunyshore Gym?!" "Uh..yeah?" Ash nervously replies.
"That Gym is not legit!" He snaps
"What are you talking about? That Gym is the best." Barry protests, but Paul turns away.
"That Gym is the worst." He replies and walks out.
"Both Barry and Paul have such different opinions of that Gym." Dawn says, turning to Brock, "Hey, Brock, what kind of Gym do you think it is?"
"I'll have to see it first to know. Then we'll talk." He replies.
