Chapter 73: Meeting a new trainer

A/N: I usually don't add any non anime characters in the fic and make them a love interest but im just gonna make Hilbert an exception 'cause someone requested him and I really can't reject y'all like that 😭

"Seriously?" Was the first thing you said after stepping out on the lab's field while going through the moves a Cottonee can use, "A grass type can only use these moves?" You asked to yourself and sighed before sitting under a tree.

You pointed the dex at the confused Cottonee floating in front of you to get it's data.

"You know, Cottonee, I had this one friend, he was the first one to show that a pokédex can tell you the moves which the pokémon you own can use. Yeah, now his motive to know the moves were different because he was a.....type of a jerk, but at least, he's trying to become the best version of himself" You shook your head with a smile before looking up at the dex, "Ahem, so anyways, you're a girl....and can use uhhh....Absorb, Growth, Leech Seed, Stun Spore, Mega Drain, Cotton Spore and Razor Leaf?"

You look up at Cottonee for confirmation and it gave you a nod.

"Alright then-" "Nee!" It interrupted you before going away and used Fake Tears and Grass Whistle, which put Spearow to sleep, "WAIT WHAT-" you panicked a bit, "Now what move was that?!" You asked the dex and it replied with, "Grass Whistle"

"So you can use the Egg Moves too, right?" "Nee" It tilted it's head in confusion, "I never really had a grass type before, so I'm sorry if I'm confused..." You sighed.

You then saw a random boy walking inside the backyard, looking lost. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a red cap with black pokéball logo and fit similar to what Ash wore in Sinnoh, instead the jacket was blue. He had a fanny pack wrapped around him.

He spotted you after looking at his surroundings a bit and smiled, "uhm! Excuse me!" He shouted from the far end of the yard, "this is professor Juniper's lab, right?" He asked
"Uh, yeah, it is! Do you need help?"
"Yeah! Actually I'm a new trainer starting my journey today! But I can't seem to find where she is..."

You got up from your place and walked up to him, followed by Spearow and Cottonee, who caught his eyes.

"Woah, what's that pokémon?" He asked curiously.
"That's a Spearow, you never saw one before?"
"No! I don't think that it's from Unova, are you not from here?"
"Yeah, Spearows are found mainly in Kanto and Johto and I'm Y/N, from Pallet Town in the Kanto Region, nice to meet you" You grinned, shaking your hands with him.
"That's so cool! My name is Hilbert and I'm from Nuvema Town."
"So Hilbert, I'm sorry to say but, Professor is out right now, you can wait for her in the lab if you want"
"Oh she's not here?" He frowned, "well, it's fine! I'll just wait for her here"
"Alright, sure" You nodded

"Uhh" He mumbled, "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure! Go ahead"
"Is it possible for you to show me the other pokémons of yours from Kanto?"
You blinked twice before giving him a small sad smile, "I'm sorry, but I left them all at Professor Oak's lab back in Kanto, I only have these two with me as I leave all my pokémons to him before going to a different region with Spearow"
"You know Professor Oak?!" He shouted
"Mhm, of course I do! He was the one who gave me my starter! Uh he actually didn't but whatever! He keeps all the pokémons of the trainers who started their journey from his lab! Amazing, right?"
"That's hella awesome! So you're not a new trainer, right?"
"Mhm, quite a old one you may say" You nervously laughed, 'it's been long since I first started my journey, huh?'
"Woah!" His eyes sparkled, "Can I have a battle with you when I get my pokémon?"
"Huh? You wanna battle...? Uhm sure! Alright then, my first battle here in the Unova region would be with you, Hilbert!"
