Chapter 35: Last meet-up, maybe?

After Ash's loss in the battle pyramid, he seemed to be off....
And on the other hand, May was off too, sulking in the empty contest hall's stage thinking about how close she was to win the grand festival, while Beautifly and Skitty tried to consol her.

"Poor may, she's not doing well" Brock said
"I think Ash's lost reminded her off her own back in the grand festival" Scott nodded
"Do you think it's something about their battling style being similar?" You asked "May always looked up to Ash and got inspired by his battling technique, so seeing him loosing just....you know" you trailed off watching May stand at one side of the stage with her Pokemon and decided to join her.

You went up to the stage soon followed by Ash and Max and then suddenly, Professor Oak popped out with a huge paper full of Ash pokémons' footprints to show how much they are cheering for him, followed by a lunch box given to him by his mother, a lure by Misty and then a photograph sent by Gary..?

"Here's a little something from Gary for both you and Y/N"
"Gary?" It's been a long time since you heard his name, it would be a lie if you say that you haven't forgot about him at all.
"Here" Professor Oak handed you a photograph "It's from sinnoh, he's currently using it as his base for research"
"That's sinnoh, huh?" Ash said inspecting the picture

"It's at the north of the Kanto region" Oak informed "there are many pokémons living there which can't be found anywhere else"
"Sinnoh huh?" You murmured looking at the place "wonder how it's like there"

You looked over at Ash who was in a trance which confused everyone except Oak who smirked knowing that seeing Gary workin hard is probably going to make him work harder for the battle pyramid too.

"Earth to Ash?" May called
"Pika?"
"Ugh! He's right! I don't have time to waster either! Let's start practicing right now!" Ash suddenly yelled startling you and others.
"Lucky them" May frowned thinking about her loss once again.

"Roselia~" May and you looked at the pokémon standing infront of you both
"Roselia? You can't be here alone, right?" May kneeled getting on the same level as Roselia.
"So that means.... Drew's here?!" You gasped in shock 'no way'
"That's right" Drew said stepping in "imagine running into you guys here" he said keeping his hands in pocket.

"You scared me, popping out of nowhere all of a sudden" you said sitting on the stage, your back facing Drew, who was taking care of Roselia.
"I did? Heh" he patted his partner "heard you won the match in battle pyramid on your first try. Congrats"

"Thank you! Look what Scott gave me after I won the match yesterday!" You immediately dug through your bag and pulled the prize out "here look! He said I got into the hall of fame too!" You cheerfully continued talking about how happy you were with a smile plastered on your face.
Drew's gaze softened seeing how happy you were 'aren't you the cutest?'

"Huh? Drew? You there?" You waved your hand infront of his face, pulling him out of his thoughts
"Hm? Y-yeah, sorry, was thinking of something" he shook his head smiling as you placed the symbols back inside

"Uhm, anyways, what have you been doing after the festival got over?"
"Doing what any other coordinators would do; taking care of my pokémons" he said as you gave a nod looking back at your feet, something felt odd.
Drew understood that something was wrong immediately "Hey, Y/N" He said getting up "I think we should have a battle" maybe battling will lift your mood up from whatever the hell you were thinking about?
"Huh? Battle? Why?"

"Hmm dunno, since we got this stage and everything and....maybe since I didn't got the chance to defeat you in the grand festival~" he winked immediately getting a grin back from you in return
"Then let me show you that who would be the one to defeat you!"
