Chapter 30: Y/N vs Harley

You and Ash managed to defeat the first frontier brain and now it was time for you and may to participate in the contest.

📍 Saffron City.

After checking out the arena you and may would be battling onto, everyone decided to have their lunch in the Pokemon center only to find Harley dressed up in a white coat doing the work of Nurse Joy?!

"Harley! What are you doing here?" May yelled first making you and Arlo spit out the orange juice you both were drinking.
"What the hell- Harley's here too?!"

Arlo got up followed by you to Harley, seeing him working as Nurse Joy's assistant?
"Don't tell me you're nurse Joy's orderly"
"Not officially, I just volunteered to help her out during the contests" Harley replied calmly shocking everyone there
"You volunteered?" "Pika?"

"I bet Harley's upto something" you whispered to Arlo
"He's probably going to plan something to defeat May" he whispered back

"My cacturne was running a fever so I brought him here" he said by dramatically putting his hands to his chest and closing his eyes "Nurse Joy was so wonderful to me and seeing how unselfish and giving she was made me feel ashamed for the kind of person I've been"

"Is he bring serious right now?" You asked Arlo not believing your ears
"I don't know what to believe in anymore"

Harley explained how he wanted to help others and how he wanted to change himself now.

"But what about the contests?" May asked worriedly
"Oh I'll still enter it----which reminds me! Did you hear about the rules?" He asked getting closer to May
"Hear about what rules?"
"You can substitute pokémons between the first and second rounds here"
"Hey! Don't listen to him May! It's probably a plan of his to bring you down just how he did before!" Max argued stepping in between them
"Oh what a jokeeeee" Harley patted on his back making him also trip

You narrowed your eyes observing Harley 'i never heard of a rule like that'

Everyone glared at him suspiciously until Nursey Joy came in
"Nurse Joyyyy" Harley held her hand and started crying dramatically "isn't it true that here coordinators can switch pokémons between first and second rounds?"
"Oh, yeah, of course they can" she replied confused about Harley crying

"Huh?" Everyone was surprised to hear Harley actually speaking the truth
"So he was right?"
"Now, I guess there is a change in my Pokemon team then" you murmured to yourself
"You're gonna switch teammmmm?"
"Heh- n-no! I mean I decided to use one pokémon as prior to the previous rule I was following since Hoenn, but hearing about this new rule, I gotta look over on my team and create a new plan"

"So what pokémons are you gonna pick?"
'telling Harley the actual pokémons I'm gonna be using might not be the best idea...' "uhm let's see I'll decided that a bit later" you nervously laughed stepping back 'even if he's a friend of mine and Arlo, Harley would do anything to win'

"Anyways, Harley, i believe you and your friends have a lot to talk about, so why not take your break now?"
"Oh thank you Nurse Joy! That would be a great idea!" He said as Nurse Joy turned around and left "oh speaking of which you both entered in the contest already, right?"
"Oh we forgot about that!" You gasped almost running back to immediately register with May
"I told you both to do that when we came here!"

"oh it's nothing to worry about, May and....Y/N" he looked at you a bit nervously even though he was smiling
'weird'
"You both still have your passes from the Hoenn right?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Well that pass would get you in this contest too and the registration's open till 11 tomorrow, so there's no big rush"
